I much prefer when these shows have people who actually were legitimate celebrities but whose stars have fallen rather than those whose entire "careers" are based on nothing but fame-whorerry (witness Spencer and Heidi).

"celebrities" live in jungle conditions with few comforts and have to earn human essentials by doing things like swimming near alligators (while
sharpshooters guard them-oh, the drama) or putting their heads in a possum cage. viewers vote. iirc, the show is one 3X a week and is 1/2 recaps of what has
been going on and the other half is live.
