Some thoughts on your'n thoughts:

Mia is typical. I have known many like her. And what she said last night is EXACTLY what I have seen from her type: The rudeness and OTT "I HATE THIS" are their weird way of motivating somebody, and also of trying to shock people into getting rid of what they see as bad habits (Brandon's mugging and wink winks to the audience, I reckon).

I really do not see what some of you all are raving about with Caitlyn. I thought she looked lost. Her moves were fine, but she was off the charts on the cheese-ometer, and looked like a third grader in a school play to me. By far my least favorite of the night, even though it was overall a good night.

I am going to go aganst my usual grain and say people need to get over what the story was or wasn't with Sonya's dance. I thought it had lovely contrast of traditional moves and intresting, purposefully uncomfortable moves. To me, the gyst she was getting at, vampires or no vampires, is the choice to be free and graceful, or the choice to be awkward and fight what comes naturally (I suppose she meant death, but I need to take my own advice and get over the story). It was fascinating to me because the moves were GORGEOUS, it was EXPERTLY danced (the lines and the synchronicity were really stunning, in quite difficult moves like dropping onto their hips). I ended up, after some time, also deciding the choreography was really interesting, because it showed this interesting mesh of old school and free form. It was jarring at first, because I am used to very loose contemporary; but after a while, I was impressed at how she used the form to accentuate the awkawardness, and the awkwardness to make the form even more lovely. This is MUCH more difficult choreography than Mia or Wade does, even though I adore them both, and usually am kinda meh on Sonya.

I loved the choreography of the Broadway, but the performance was too one-note, even for a style that can be very heavy-handed. The Bob Fosse moves were also not NEARLY fluid enough.
