Don't like this song, I liked Matt's performance. Solid, not great, but solid.
He should've fucking sang "Georgia". |

Wow, it wasn't very good to start with and totally fell apart on the bridge. Ouch at the last note. And he seriously needs to do something about that
huge pussy zit on his forehead.

Matt Giraud.
Have You Ever Really Loved A Woman by Bryan Adams. Quentin sees the formula and compliments the rehearsal. Piano + Hat + Gravelly Voice = Matt. Nice start timbre-wise, Matt and the piano, but some pitch issues in the first line. The second line works better as he twists the notes a bit and the accompaniment/orchestra joins in. He hits his stride in the title line. The audience claps in time, although I think this is a little bland. Okay, he busts out some vocal gymnastics that sort-of work, and kinda don't, all at the same time. I'll give him an 8 for creativity on this, but for the performance? A 6, maybe. Randy: So listen for me, that was interesting. It started out kinda cool. When you hit the bridge, kinda rough. Little pitchy things going on. You can really sing, but when you take a song like this, you can't do all taht stuff with the really simple melody. You fell down in that song more than you won me. Kara: You .. Audience: IEEEEEEEEEEE! Kara: It's like do you do a rock song, soul song? Last week, 2 steps forwrad. I appreciate that you twisted it to make it feel R&B, but you took away the core melodies that make the song great. When you flip it like that, it has to be a masterpiece. Randy: Yeah, every run had to be perfect. It wasn't. |

Better than Anoop, but there's still something really off-putting about Matt.

I don't think it would be realistic timewise to get song clearances and band arrangements, rehearsals and recordings done in a week. I think that's why we hear the same songs over and over and the kids are often singing things they haven't grown up with and don't know. |

Hokey's up next and he's apparently wearing contacts. Or is he going without them or glasses so he can try to
pick up Scott's pity votes?

Mayhaps that thingy on Matt's forehead is a wart rather than a pimple.
If it were a pimple, one would think that someone, anyone would have squeezed it by now. |

I don't dislike Matt, but as usual, I find his voice to be breathy, and lacking in richness and clarity of tone.
And once again, he offers up another performance where he oversings and abitrarily throws in too many showy vocal tricks that he doesn't have the chops to pull off effectively. |
