I cried when I did. So many"pervert" and "dead in the ditch" thoughts came to mind.

Was she behind the dresser? I'm always losing stuff behind there.

I looked in the beds to see if she might have snuck up there while I was posting!
Nope, she was out after street lights! That's her curfew. |

Did you check the couch cushions?
Seriously, is she okay? And if she is did you kill her for making you worry? |

I lost babydude this week too!
I let him out to play in the yard. He always goes straight to the driveway and plays in the rocks with his dumptruck. His dog was out there with him. I was in the kitchen, and after 5 minutes, I went to check on him and...gone. There's not many places he could go that weren't on our property. He was barefooted and we live on 7 acres. But gone he was. All I could think was that he was in the woods, and there's a creek down there. It was the longest half hour of my life, until I saw the tip of the dog's tail across the street way the hell over on my neighbor's property. I went charging over there, and he was under their deck playing in the mud with a stick, and plenty pissed that I was disturbing him. I had just started to dial the sheriff when I saw the dog. I still haven't stopped shaking, so I know how you feel. |

The next call and stop where the cops.
It's the most frightening thing you can ever feel. Seriously. Little P has never gone playing around without coming home before dark. I was frantic! |

Losing your child is not an option. There are many children missing.

What about using leashes or invisible fences?

You aren't a parent are you?
I live in a very small town and I was worrying. |

No. I'm not an actual parent and single yet. I am mentioning about losing children.

This is why I hate when kids go missing and people blame the parents for not keeping an eye on them. Kids are sneaky. They slip away. Glad yours were found
safe and sound.

There was a thing on the news today about a two year old who walked out the back door in his diaper and barefooted and they were searching everywhere for him.
That was babydude's attire too, and I got another attack of the shakes just thinking about it.
How would I have explained this to my daughter? You just can't say, well sorry, he booked and I don't know where he is. |

My sister followed us about 5 blocks to the candy store once when she was about 3. Some old guy found her and drove her back to the house. Apparently she was
hitting him the entire time. My grandparents about had a heart attack.

When I was 3, I got lost (fell into the foundation hole at a building site) and was there overnight during the end of spring (in Canada).
My mom will not talk about it. At all. I found out from my grandma when I was in my 20's. |

This all is why America has the highest infant (young children) mortality rate of the free/1st world. Our parents suck and, luckily for you but not for
me/other OT readers, you all survived.

Once when my older son was 3 we were at the mall. He kept throwing tantrums so I told him to stand up and stop screaming or I would take his umbrella away.
(It was the current favourite thing.) Well the next thing I knew he disappeared. The people in the mall DID NOT CARE AT ALL. And they just laughed at me for
being upset. I kept thinking about those two boys in England who kidnapped that little kid from the mall and stoned him and then tied him to the railway
tracks.
In the end I found him behind a curtain near where I lost him. He told me he was hiding so I couldn't take his umbrella away. Because "It's mine!" |

Over the weekend, some kid was missing for over 24 hours, an Amber alert was issued, and the parents were on tv sobbing - turns out he snuck off to a
friend's house and spent the night there. The mom of the friend finally saw his picture on the news and called the cops to let them know where he was.
Now, the part I can't figure out is - do you just let random kids spend the night at your house without checking with their parents to make sure that it's okay? |
