SIGH...I miss pre-Slumdog Millionaire America where I only saw Indians in the form of Kelly Kapur and at the 7-11.

It had its moments, so I'll give it a chance.

Underwhelming as a pilot. Hopefully it was just to set up the rest of the episodes.
I think my main problem is that I don't really like the characters. Hopefully that'll change as the show progresses, as I do think this show has potential, and it's not the first NBC comedy to have a boring pilot, so I'm still going to stick around. |

Chevy Chase is not a comedy legend, he is a hasbeen asshole that is completely hated by pretty much everyone that ever worked with him.
I'm 10 minutes in, and not really impressed, too "faux quirky" for me, quite forced. |

Somebody never saw:
Spies like us Under the rainbow Oh Heavenly Dog Deal of the Century Modern Problems Three Amigos The Couch Trip Nothing But Trouble Memoirs of an Invisible Man Snow Day Etc. Best thing Bill Murray ever did was punch him in the face 5 minutes before the start of the SNL episode where Chevy guest hosted. |

The first half was underwhelming, but the second half was better. It definitely had that forced Pilot feel.
I love Joel so I'll keep watching. |

It was a weak pilot, but hopefully it will pick up.
I have noticed though that shows that have an awesome pilot never do well, i.e Better off Ted. |

Not a huge fan of the pilot, but I get the feeling that once these characters are really established we'll be getting major laffos. I'll give it a few
weeks.

I definitely see potential with this one. I have faith in Joel McHale. Figure in a couple of AD writers and I'd be surprised if this thing doesn't
become a late bloomer. I do think it suffered, as many pilots do, from having many of the better lines repeated over & over in a summer's worth of
previews.
While it struggles to find it's way I see a lot of possible material for The Soup writers the next few weeks. So that's a bonus. I like the Bill Murray connections mentioned earlier: Joel's character name, Abed comparing him to Murray's movie characters & the fact that Bill essentially replaced Chevy on SNL. I'd have to say I thought the line of the night was, "That means you do my homework right, Seacrest?" |

Phantom Nut Syndrome wrote: Please add "the Chevy Chase show." One of the WORST talk shows in the history of not only television, but communication in general. Honestly this show didn't keep my attention at all. I was confused by the whole teacher/Joel interaction. He got him acquitted of DUI. So why is he still holding it over his head? It's not like they would re-try him. It just seems like a very loose plot, and was trying way too hard. |

Abed's Breakfast Club moment was the highlight of an otherwise weak pilot. I'll still tune in for the rest of the run though.

I like this. It's kind of retro in the way that the lead is kind of smarmy but likeable. Maybe that's why all of the 70's and 80's references
work.
The Vacation movies are the best thing Chevy did. The only recent thing that was funny is the movie about the swiched briefcases. |

I liked that it was a "themed" pilot... ballsy.
Got a few laughs out of me and a lot of smirks... I'm a Joel fan, so I'll definitley be back. |

I only caught the last ten minutes, but I can't believe no one thought it was funny when the kid said, "Oh, my God! Am I deaf?!"
I laughed my ass off. |
