I watched a documentary on Polio running rampant in India. It was heartbreaking.

It's hard to run rampant with Polio. It's hard to run with Polio.

I don't know about that. Spending the dollars to screen every single kid just to catch a few cases seems like an immense waste of resources. |

What's going with these kids that there's so much lead in their systems? I don't know if we have that here in Canada.

When I saw this thread title, I knew it was going to be about her anti-vaccine crusade. She is such a dumbass.
I say send her off to live in some third world country with unsanitary living conditions and then see what she thinks about vaccines. |

I read her book and her stuff makes sense for her and her kid.
However I believe most children with autism (of varying degrees) are born with it. In her case, her son was sick. He had fevers and seizures and was treated with seizure meds. Then he lost verbal skills, etc and "became" autistic. It may be true that some children can't tolerate the immunization schedule and perhaps that is something that should be looked at. For most children immunizations are fine and necessary, imo. My oldest has Asperger's. My other two children had the same immunizations and neither have been diagnosed the same. It's not an all or nothing or every scenario kind of thing. I believe there are more cases for a couple reasons: 1 - kids are getting diagnosed earlier, doctors/parents are alert and looking for problems. 2 - the autism spectrum is broader with the inclusion of Asperger's and Pervasive Developmental Disorder, both on the higher functioning end and quite possibly those with it in the past were just considered "odd" or as "misfits". |

One of mine has Asperger's as well. I considered the vaccine angle because I was given an MMR when I was pregnant and he had his regularly scheduled MMR as
a toddler as well. In the grand scheme of things, we'll never know if the vaccines caused it or if it would have happened anyways. They have no way of
testing to find out what causes autism, just lots of speculation.

I'm not understanding this vaccination issue.
My 3 nephews (same mum) had the vaccinations. One is autistic and smarter than 99%. Think I'll go ask him and see if he knows. |

Ugh I think my brother and sister are these anti vaccination freaks. My brother has sworn he will never have children so we are safe there. But if my sister
has kids I think I may kidnap them just long enough for them to get all their shots.

There are far too many vaccines now. I do believe there can be a relationship between vaccinations and autism. I have seen it first hand. I hope you never get
that opportunity.
Calling someone names, Guppie, just because you don't believe there is a link, makes you look worse than her. |
