I searched the forum (not as well as I could have, I guess) and could find nothing about this. Any ideas or suggestions as to why Locke was living in some commune type place growing pot?

There's a deleted scene for that episode at the end of the flashback when Eddie walks away from Locke holding the hunting rifle. Locke returns to the commune and there is a police raid in progress with Mike, Jan, and the others being arrested. It appears that Eddie spots Locke in the bushes watching everything, but Eddie doesn't say anything to anyone else. Locke then escapes back into the forest. I know deleted scenes aren't canon, but I thought that it was interesting.
