Some years ago, I read the Bible all the way through, from beginning to end. As I read it, it dawned on me..."this is the dumbest, most unbelievable
pile of shit I've ever read in my life." Clearly, with all its scientific inaccuracies, and endorsements of slavery and other human ills, it was
neither written by nor inspired by God. People who believe this crap are not to be trusted.

I believe in a God.
Otherwise....there would be nothing. There is something instead of nothing. There was an original big bang, where all matter was concentrated in one place. Somehow that matter was put there. Otherwise there would be aboslutely nothing....not even a dust speck. Maybe the entire universe and 4 billion years is a blink of an eye to God. |

I never believed.
My mom would let us stay up and watch The 10 Commandments when we were kids and that was the most religion I had until I was 8 or 9. At that age I started reading the Old and New Testaments because I loved to read and thought it would be interesting. What a bunch of bull shit that was. As an older child, I was curious because many of my friends went to church. I went along with them to many churches (Catholic, Baptist, Evangelicals, etc.) synagogues and other religious functions. I've even attended the Church of Lord Jesus Christ in West Virginia where they handled snakes. They all contradicted each other so much that it was just laughable. When our dog was very old and sick, we had him put down. I was 14. My best friend at the time was Catholic. She told me that there is NO heaven for animals and that God put animals on this planet to be slaves to humans. I hated all Catholics after that and never ventured into a church again. |

I've always wondered how believers explain this. Although Atheists need to get something through their thick skulls. Believing in God doesn't necessairly mean believing the bible, angels, demons, ghosts, ressurections, chicks who get pregant without having sex, Adam and Eve etc. |

I've always wondered how believers explain this. A thinking person would wonder how God explains it. |

SmrtAss wrote:Yes this. Sweet Christ, there's enough pent up guilt from childhood that you never get Catholicism out of your mindset. I once told a priest to fuck off when I was a teenager, went to confession, did my Hail Mary's and I'm still convinced I'm going to hell. But strangely, I don't feel any guilt about the fact that I haven't been to church in 25 years. |
