Pit Stop! The Pit Stop for this leg of the race is in the Guayaquil Docks. Known as one of the most crucial port sites in all of South American and particularly, Ecuador, these docks have been hosting ships since the early 1900's. Guayaquil, located in the gulf of Guayaquil, is essential to the nation's economy as it oversees much domestic and international trade. The Docks have also become a hotbed of activity for drugs and sex trafficking so police must be vigilant. When teams arrive, they must run onto a boat known as "El Matador". This boat is the pit stop for this leg of the race. The last team to check in here, may be eliminated.

Detour: Mis Tostones o Mi Invención
In this detour, teams will have an interesting choice between tasks involving bananas.
Mis Tostones: In Mis Tostones, teams must make their way to Lo Nuestro, a popular restaurant in Guayaquil. Here they will find 50 pots of boiling pans of tostones, a type of friend plantain which is commonly eaten in the country. There are 6 marked pots where a clue is hidden and both teams must work together to find their clue. Each team will obviously pick a pot each update, but the second team who posts must find the median (average) of the two numbers and that is the true pot they pick.
Example:
Team A chooses Pot 2
Team B chooses Pot 10
In Team B's post they must post:
Run to Pot 10
10 - 2 = 8 / 2 = 4 + 2 = 6
(0-50)
*Run to (#)*
The math is a crucial role to this detour (If you get a decimal you may choose to round down or up) and teams will have to use it to correctly find one of 15 marked pots. If they can overcome the math, they may find themselves in the front of the pack.
Mi Invención: In Mi Invención, teams make their way to this modern Guayaquil TV station. Once here, they must attempt to show the importance of the banana in modern history. Using historical images or texts, they must doctor them to include the banana. For images, teams must use a famous picture seen all over the world (i.e. Space launch and add in bananas) The team must select 1 picture, cut it in half, and then each work on one half of it and then both post it. For writing skits, teams must use an excerpt from a speech (at LEAST 2 paragraphs) and add in bananas. The following is an example:
Martin Luther King's I Have A Dream (Of Bananas) speech:
I have a dream that one day this nation will rise up, eat bananas, and live out the true meaning of its creed: "We hold these truths to be self-evident: that all men are created with bananas." I have a dream that one day on the red hills of Georgia the sons of former slaves and the sons of former slaveowners will be able to sit down together at a table of brotherhood and eat bananas in their sundaes. I have a dream that one day even the state of Mississippi, a desert state with no bananas, sweltering with the heat of injustice and oppression and no bananas, will be transformed into an oasis of freedom and justice where I may eat my banana. I have a dream that my four children and their bananas will one day live in a banana nation where they will not be judged by the bruises of their banana peel but by the content of the actual banana. I had a dream today of bananas.
When they have completed either their speech or picture, they will post it, and if deemed okay, will receive their next clue. This task may be difficult for those who are not necessarily creative and teams who lack the proper cooperation may fall instantly behind.
(Break your speech into two parts, then you both will post it depending on chronological order)

Roadblock: Who thinks they know the perfect match?
In this roadblock, that person must use their knowledge of two of South America's most prominent living novelists, Isabel Allende and Gabriel Garcia Marquez to solve a riddle. In front of them lays a 35 tile set with each row pertaining to a novel by one of the aforementioned authors. At the beginning of the round, all pairs will fire a slingshot at the same tile revealing a clue about the novel. The pair can aim for the same row in the next round or choose to target another row with more clues revealed. When either person in a pair thinks they know which novel the row is describing, they must post *Row (#) is about (Title of Novel IN SPANISH) by (Author)!* If the person is correct, the pair will receive their clue.
*Shoot (Letter)(Number)*
