Oh we got plenty of storms on our way down yesterday...around Lafayette and Indianapolis in the morning and between Louisville and Nashville in the afternoon. Then it rained all night long in Chattanooga. So we've had plenty of rain and we're only 1 day in.

Hello all...we had quite the eventful afternoon.

About 1:30 this afternoon we were just south and east of Macon, GA when we heard a loud BANG noise and then the unmistakable sound of a flat tire. I pulled over to the shoulder right in front of the 5 Mile marker on I-16 East and got the stuff out to put the spare on. Now my wife recently had some tire work done before our trip, and these guys apparently thought it necessary to screw those lugnuts on SO FUCKING TIGHT that it was nearly impossible for me to loosen any of them to get the tire off. Naturally, I bent the goddamn lug wrench that came with the car; cheap fucking piece of shit that was and these lugnuts on so tight.

So here I am standing two feet from the traffic lane with inferior equipment, when up pulls a good samaritan to help me out. Local dude, asked if we needed any help, said he's a former truck driver who's always helped out people in need. This guy went to his house just off the next exit ahead and was back in 5 minutes with a better crowbar and jack. So we get the tire off and it turns out to be a blowout in the sidewall...a manufacturer defect. Now my wife had got this particular tire from Sam's Club, so I ask the guy where the nearest Sam's Club is, figuring we'll go get a new tire. Well he took us there, waited with us while they got our new tire fixed up, then drove us back to our car. Then he put the new tire on for us! Well we gave him 60 bucks and got his address and promised to keep in touch.

So anyway, after a nearly 2 hour delay we got back on the road and finally made it to our hotel just outside Savannah. We ate at this fantastic place right down the street from our hotel, then drove to downtown Savannah to have a few drinks and check out the scene...

Of course I couldn't resist taking a pic of my wife...



And of course we had to see what the deal was at one of the city's most popular places...



That's all I have in photos right now. Obviously it was dark so I couldn't get much...but we're spending the day down there tomorrow so there will be much more to share after that.

Factoryhurl...didn't bring the clubs. We just didn't have the room for them in the car.

Quaff...we're big Food Network fans, my wife and I. We wanted to go to Paula Deen's place, plus see all the historic architecture here. Savannah is a beautiful city and it seemed like a good place to take a vacation, so here we are!

GNG...on the way back we're going via Murray, KY...I gotta stop and see my grandparent's graves and put some flowers out for them. So we'll be going thru Illinois instead. Sorry!!!

More to come...

Yeah we're gonna eat at Lady & Sons on Monday or Tuesday for lunch, but just walking around a little bit tonight I saw about ten places I want to eat at...and we didn't even go down to the riverfront!
