Yeah that guy was pretty tall. His party was sitting near us in the 3rd floor dining room.

When do we get the Walgreens of Georgia photo essay?
Gina, you beat me to the punch. Thanks for bringing the cool weather down here for us CRA. It's been delightful! |

While I'm certain you're having a good time, I personally wouldn't walk across the street to see any of those things in your pics.
What prompted you to go there? There appears to be nothing there but big food and mildly interesting architecture. What am I missing? |

Wither the collard greens? That buffet is a greasy sight first thing in the morning.
I'll look at it again at lunch. |

It probably features the triumvirate of southern foods... fried anything, mayonnaise and ham hocks

We may do the ghost tour thing tonight.
Pie they had collard greens a little further down on that buffet line. They were quite tasty. Gina I call bullshit...that Walgreens could be anywhere. |

I love she crab soup. It is a big hit in the Chesapeake Bay area as well.

Ok picking up where I left off yesterday...
This morning we were going to go to the Savannah Wildlife Refuge, but as we were leaving Diane suddenly said, "Go to Hilton Head instead", so we did. We got lucky and it didn't rain at all other than a few stray sprinkles. It was cloudy and windy all day but it did get warmer as the day went on. I like Hilton Head and I'll most definitely go back there again. Ok I'm all caught up on pictures now. Don't think we're doing the ghost tour this trip, but she wants to come back here again so next time that'll be a priority. Not sure exactly what we're doing tomorrow but we'll figure it out in the morning.

Nice pics, CRA. It's making me nostalgic to get back there. I hope the rain eases up. And if you walk through Colonial Park Cemetery again, take a closer
look at some of the dates on the graves. When Sherman's Army occupied the city, some of the soldiers camped there, and since they had a lot of time on
their hands, some got board and started fucking around w/ the tombstones and altering the dates so that some people married at the age of 5 and died before
they were born.
And Trixie's right: Savannah is one of the most beautiful cities in the country. None are designed like it: the city was originally designed as a grid of squares and they've been preserved. I think there are something like 22 or 23 squares still in existence, and each one is like a little park of its own. And the place just has an odd, mysterious vibe to it. I've never felt anything quite like it. I could imagine living there someday. But if southern Gothic isn't your thing, you won't think it's anything special, I guess. |
