Love it. NCIS set in a city that's been the setting for a million other TV series. What do they call it? NCIS: Los Angeles.

Was it really necessary?

Don't know if it's necessary but it's a little different than NCIS. If you saw the introduction of the charcters on NCIS you'd understand. My problem is I wish they would seperate it from NCIS and put it on another night. |

Why didn't they just use "NCIS: Legend"? I guess it wasn't generic enough.

LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - Oscar winner Linda Hunt has joined CBS' new drama series "NCIS: LA" as a regular. She will fill the void left by the departure of Louise Lombard, who co-starred in the pilot of the crime procedural. Toplined by LL Cool J and Chris O'Donnell, the show is set at the Office of Special Projects, a division of NCIS that is charged with apprehending dangerous and elusive criminals who pose a threat to the nation's security. The switch is not a direct recasting; Hunt will play a new character, who oversees the "backroom" support staff tasked with providing everything from micro surveillance cameras to cars for Callen (O'Donnell) and his team. Efficient, hard-nosed and resourceful after years of being a Miss Fix-it in the film industry, she seems tough but genuinely cares about Callen and his team. In the pilot, Lombard played an investigator who formerly was a major in the military police. Hunt, who won an Oscar for "The Year of Living Dangerously," recently had a recurring role on "Without a Trace" and also co-starred on "Carnivale." |

I thought this ep was WAY better than the shows they did with the real NCIS. I'm still deciding whether its going to be on my regular Tuesday night line
up but tonight was certainly better than I figured it would be.

As expected, this premiered strong in the ratings with 18.3 million viewers last night.

Even The Mentalist didn't premiere with numbers that high. It started out reasonably well, but picked up steam in the winter.
It was a no-brainer that NCIS: LA would be the highest rated new series of the year. Flash Forward hasn't premiered yet, but I'd be very surprised if it gets 18 million viewers. |

esme wrote: um, isn't that what they do on the original NCIS?? This eppy was a little meh for me. I think I was expecting more differences from the original based on what I saw at the end of last season. More gadgets and gizmos, more high tech undercover SEAL-like stuff and such. this eppy was a little to NCIS: Part Deux for me. And what's with the hacienda headquarters? They go from this really cool, wall to wall tech filled building to that?? I like the set better in the pilot. Having said that, there were a few parts that I did like and I can see the potential in it. Once they get a chance to flesh out the characters a bit more. Also, Linda Hunt is the shit. edited for grammatical fuk up. |

^ No clue
I didn't like her because of the history with Gibbs but if they would have dropped that I would be fine with her staying. |
