Mine is the weirdest of all? Where is it written in the SS rules that I'm not entitled to my opinion?

My list makes perfect sense.when you consider that MOST of what has come out of the Idols has been just plain crap so far. Where's the innovative music? There isn't any!

I'll go backward from the bottom:

7 & 8: Jordin and Kelly
We now know that the point of Idol is to find the most marketable according to the wishlist of the ptb. Jordin was the perfect winner for that. She's a nice girl, but let's face it, people didn't vote for Mindy Doo (who is far better) because the conventional wisdom was she couldn't succeed on the charts like Jordin. Well yeah, ok, bore me to death, and btw, where's the good music? Her songs have been ok, but seriously "your love is like a tattoo?" lol, that's just ... bad, lol. Same with Kelly, not one of her songs is going to stand the test of time, they're all heavily over-produced pre-fab pablum. (Not to mention the worst song titles in the history of pop, Since U Been Gone - grammer check! lol - and My Life Would Suck Without You?) Go ahead and defend these songs as 'classic' or 'innovative' and 'good music.' But I don't think anyone's gonna believe you, if they've got 1/2 a brain that works. I've said this before and I'll say it again, unless Kelly truly breaks away from the label, and develops her songwriting (which is just so mediocre so far, but she can improve!), she's stuck in a rut. Yes, a money-making rut, but there's a reason the girl's gotten so fat and doesn't care what she looks like anymore. Her heart isn't into this latest album, its very clear. Yes, Kelly tried something relatively different with her 3rd album, but her abilities weren't up to expectations, and that's why it didn't succeed. IMO, t/y! If doing well on charts is the criteria, these two would be at the top. My criteria is GOOD MUSIC, whole different ballgame. These two are just puppets, they need to 'breakaway.' (sic).

4,5 &6: Carrie, Ruben, Kris
Carrie is in this group because she's at least done something a little different than Jordin and Kelly. She's stayed true to her genre, despite all the pressure to go Pop, and you know there's been pressure because they'd love to turn everyone into Jordin and Kelly, of course, because that's where the money is. And the potential is there, as we saw with Before He Cheats. Which, btw, happens to be a really great song, perhaps the only one so far from the AI group that may very well stand the pressure of time. But Carrie does things that pop fans don't understand, while country fans totally 'get it.' That, in my book, gives her some potential. I've seen posts asking if 'anyone even remembers her last single' stated in a derogatory way. Well, yeah, its a Country classic called "I Told You So" and she showed great respect to her genre by recording it and putting it out there as a single. These things resonate with her fan base, and is why she's Country's Entertainer of the Year (among other reasons). Other than all that, though, Carrie is the cookie cutter Country Artist from AI, with the big beautiful hair and the great bod (necessary to be a big country star if you're female), and multitude of mediocre songs ("All American Girl" anyone?). Its hard to say where she'll go from here, hence moderately boring. with hope for the future. Ruben has a great voice, and star demeanor (that's why he won folks!), but hasn't found THE great song yet that he needs to establish him in the industry. But he charts his own course, and stays true to himself, and I think he'll find that one great song if he keeps at it, so there's hope for him. Kris is a blank slate of course, so its hard to tell. But he was very innovative on the show, again and again, and he pulled off that upset win at least partially because of that. We'll see what happens with him too.

1,2, &3: David C., Fantasia, Taylor
I always hoped we'd get something at least interesting, and NEW, from AI, and these three are as close as it gets. I'll start with Taylor because people tend to forget that Taylor brought us back to Blues and Roots music on AI, the very basis for everything that's come after, including pop music of today. THAT's why people loved him, and THAT's why he won. REAL MUSIC, what a revelation! It made people remember that there's actually good music out there, and people responded to that in droves. Has he done much with it since AI? No. But he's stayed true to it, and that's where innovation comes from in the long run. By the traditional AI criteria, he hasn't hit the top of any charts so he must be a failure right? Well, no, there is no chart for the Blues or Roots style music, but that doesn't mean the music itself isn't good, hello! Get off the lemming train people. There's potential there for Taylor to surprise us and give us something memorable and different. Me, I like that, so shoot me now, I guess. Fantasia always surprises us, much to the chagrin of all the people here who hate her (with a little racism thrown in, ahem). Her "Summertime" on the show was a star-making moment, and then she made the obligatory crappy post-AI CD or two, but then she came back to huge kudos for her turn in The Color Purple. There's hope for this girl, she's unique and interesting, and there's a lot of potential for good music in her future. We shall see. Finally, David Cook is in the same category as Kris Allen to me, because he was innovative on the show, and there's still hope for him to carry that over into the real world. At least on his album, he helped write 10 of the 12 songs, so he's got a hand in his music still. Most important, his songs sound like him! Again, we shall see what he does with it. But at least the potential is there.

Like I said above, get off the lemming train people! High chart numbers does not a decent winner make. And I'm entitled to my opinion. That's all, over and out. :)

oh, well in that case ... I won't bother to express my opinion here again. I didn't realize you had to be part of the 'really stupid people's club' to have one. Maybe a few rounds in a mud hole would help? lol.
