Spencer, have you seen/talked to Sydney since the finale?

Their guys looked bigger and their women looked more athletic so I thought we were the underdogs immediately. After the first challenge, despite the loss, we all realized we weren't going to get run over after all. Getting rid of Candace and Jerry early definitely helped even the tribes though. Our tribe felt like Candace and Jerry were big assets for them. |

Spencer,
Did your family and friends expect you to get the boot when the episode aired or did you pre-warn them? Did you talk at all about previous seasons while you were out there? |

spencer--what was it like actually hearing from casting after applying? as a 2x applicant I've yet to receive the call but always have wondered about the
feeling i'd get when it finally comes down the line. also--how do you feel about their use of recruiting as means to finding contestants?

My friends were NOT expecting it... so they were pretty pissed when I got the boot. I didn't intend to talk about the previous seasons because that can put a target on your back... if you're perceived as knowing too much about the game... but on the trek to camp EVERYONE (I especially remember Stephen and Carolina discussing the show) seemed to be talking about previous editions of the show so as a huge fan it was so exciting to actually talk to someone about my favorite show. We speculated about Gabon too because we only got to see the first half of the season before we started filming. |

Bubba4life wrote:No. Candace was easily the strongest woman on their tribe so we were thrilled when we saw them show up to the Ep 3 RC without her. Then Jerry would've been an asset for them at the Ep 4 RC where they held the weight... over say, Tyson- who's ridiculously athletic but doesn't really have the body type to hold weight like that for long periods of time. Jerry wasn't say, another Ozzy or anything, don't get me wrong. I just think there were instances where Timbira really could've used him after he was gone. |

birdseyeview wrote:I lost my mind when I heard the voicemail from the casting assistant. I slept about as well that night as I did the night before we started taping. It was insane but at the same time, SO hard to keep quiet. I wanted to tell everyone. I understand why, as people who are trying to make a TV show, they'd want to recruit certain types of people who may not otherwise apply simply for appeal factor. BUT I think the show would be so much more entertaining if you had 16 applicants who were desperate to be there. The scrambling before every tribal council would be intense! I've always preferred as few recruits as possible because that gives the real fans a better shot, but sadly- for the fans who apply- they're more interested in making a TV show than giving real fans a shot. Perfect example: the "Fans" tribe in Micronesia... I mean, c'mon. All 10 of those people were hardcore fans... were we really supposed to buy that? |

ALL ten should have been applicants. However, micro was a very good season.
