Between the plants and the sob stories, this may be our most difficult season to predict. At least in recent memory. The best I can do this season is come up with some generalities about where I think they'll place. Subject to editing before tomorrow's 7:59 EDT deadline:


13. Alexis Grace. She's Vanessa Olivarez all over again. Talented, but with no particular niche. And the first theme ain't up her alley.
12. Michael Sarver. Early boot if he sticks with the "Blue Eyed Soul" route, since we have 3 of those this year. But as a country singer he could go far.
11. Jorge Nunez. His star will fade; only question is whether he makes the tour. Wouldn't be surprised if Adam goes out before 10th place either, due to scandal.
10. Kris Allen. Interchangeable with Matt Giraud. One of them will be redundant. The other could make F4.
9. Matt Giraud. Ditto what I said about Kris Allen.
8. Megan Joy Corkrey. Looks will only get you so far. But Alexis might make it this far, and Megan be out early; dunno.
7. Scott MacIntyre. Novelty will only get you so far. One really bad week and he won't make the tour, either.
6. Jasmine Murray. She'll ride the youth wave with Allison. One of them will get to F4 or better. The other goes out F7, F6-ish.
5. Anoop Desai. Somewhere near where George Huff went out? Yeah, that's about right.
4. Lil Rounds. As MindyDoo proved, you can be too competent on this show.
3. Allison Iraheta. Either she or Jasmine will probably make it into May. Probably not both.
2. Adam Lambert. He could get this far on talent. He might win. Or, he could leave before the tour due to scandal. Who knows?
1. Danny Gokey. He can sing, he has a backstory, he's safe for at least a month. Beyond that, it's a crapshoot.
