Let's dispense with the whole gas vs charcoal thing off the top. Would love to use charcoal but the grill is on a wood deck and I've run a propane line directly to it, so it's going to be gas. Plus, I have a much higher probability of blowing my house and myself up with gas, which is very appealing.
I think the right grill is the Weber Summit series E-650. My problem is that it is a little wide for the space that I want to put the grill. So, I figure I can do without the 12,000 BTU side burner (there's a kitchen 25 feet away so no biggie). I called Weber to ask them if it can be assembled without the side burner and some dude in India told me < APU voice> We do not recommend any modifications or customizations. < /APV>
Looking at the assembly instructions on line made me think it should be very doable: http://www.weber.com/manuals/pdf_files/2009_grills/Summit_ES620_ES650_AssemblyInstructions_90736_100108.pdf
So, two questions:
1. Is the modification doable?
2. Is it the right grill or would you recommend something else?
