I run for an hour at an average 5 mph, 3 days a week.
Is that good for a noob or should I be doing more at this point?

I think that's great. Keep at it.
I jog a little faster, but I've haven't been doing it that long either. |

That's as I'm going to get at this point. I'm assuming I'll get faster the longer I do it.

I starting serious running again in March and my pace has quickened significantly. Just keep it up and you'll start getting faster. I even have this
spreadsheet thingy for tracking my time and such.

It depends on if you are running for endurance or speed. 5 mph over an hour is five miles, which is pretty good if you are just starting. I usually run at 7-8
mph, but I find that I can't run five miles at that pace. I hit the five mile mark on a treadmill at 7 or 7.5 mph, but I can't do that outside.

Yikes, I can do about 2 miles max on a treadmill. I HATE running on those damn things.

How long can you go on the treadmill if you're running the opposite way?
Wait. |

I'm trying to mix it up ...I run on the treadmill before work twice a week and run on the roads on the weekend.

Do you like to "keep it fresh" as well as "mix it up"?

One thing that got me to do half marathons and I know use it for regular running too is gel packs. You have one about 4 miles into it and you will see a boost
of energy for the last mile which is where are probably dragging and watch your time improve.

Will crack do the same thing?

it should, crack has been known to have magical effects on people.

There is no set distance or pace for an age group, it depends on your training and such. Don't stress about it and just run.
