I figure a thread to talk about all things GSN wouldn't be bad to have. Trix, if you want to lock this thread up, go ahead. I didn't think it would be a bad idea to have a thread to encompass all the shows (new and old) on GSN rather than a thread for each specific show. Today they are having the 1st ever Game Show Awards on. It's quite a big shingdig, red carpet, etc.... I mean where else can see Joyce Bulifant, Patty Deutsch and Nancy Dussault picking an award for Classic Game Show?! It was better off dead...and Carnie is terrible. But I do like Catch 21. And endless airings of LINGO. I love that they have brought back the 25K & 100K Pyramid shows at night now.

I just rediscovered GSN the other day. I was embarrassed by the EHarmony Commercial New Newlywed game. The fucking prizes were ( for the 2nd/3rd place couples) a cheesy Cuisinart blender and a REALLY cheap tabletop grill. The "winner" got a modest vacation and the grand prize winners ( between the newlywed vs. "Goldyweds") was a bloody sony digital camera/printer! CHEAP!!! I want to see endless Gong Show repeats! And Chuck Woolery is always good in my book...

It was like $3.95 / $4.95 a call..and I lucked out ( a few times). You had to win one of the half-hourly entry contests and then they'd call you back for the daily grand prize vacation trip. I first won a lousy Llambro Emmitt Kelly Jr. clown figurine ( ) , but later won a cool 1K chandelier..then won a lazy-boy recliner. I ( somehow) won the daily vacation prize..and usually it was a cool trip to Vegas, New Orleans, Florida, Bahamas. I won a trip to Belize, I gave it to my parents, who stayed around 2 days in that 3rd world country before fleeing that mess , chillin' in the Florida Keys for the rest of the ten days. The taxes suck..

I think it's been a DECADE since they had them on. I go through phases with GSN. It'll be the only thing I watch for a few months, and then I won't turn it on for a few. Good to know about the awards. I'll have to record it.

This cat was from my neighborhood..a bit of a raconteur. He won over 150K ( mid eighties loot), gave a cool shout out to the boys at the drinking hole as his charitable " home for wayward boys", and had Kevin Nealon there ( before fame). Nealon is also from my 'hood and was there with Jan Hooks who he dated then( they make an appearance @ 3:33) . I wish I had better quality eps of that show, he killed the comp!

It'll be the only thing I watch for a few months, and then I won't turn it on for a few. Yeah, this goes for me too. I just hate pretty much every new game show they do (besides Lingo and that tournament last year where they had all those past champions face off...can't remember the name but Ken Jennings won and there was a great thread here at Sucks), and now that's basically all they show besides Millionaire, Deal or No Deal, and recent episodes of Jeopardy. It was great when they showed Press Your Luck every day. I think they lost the rights to the Mark Goodson library a while back which was a ton of shows and explains why it's decreased in quality so much. I can't think of any network that went so downhill from the way it used to be.
