I think it would be better if Exile Island is renamed to "Treasure Island" especially it has the HII most of the time. They could bring back that "comfort or clue" from S17 in Samoa's Exile Treasure Island. Or put some twists like winning a reward or being exempt from the tribal council like in S12. Or a reward challenge to go to the "Treasure Island" because it has tons of food!

Of course the first boot has an effect on the game. The game went on just fine without the idol. It does have some use or at least could provide some, vut it just isn't all that useful or important and is eatting up too much screen time.

Theres no sport to it...this game is all about your own ability and in part luck but the luck turns to bullshit with a HII. In theory a tribe could win (in a 8 vs 8 season) all 6 tribal rewards and immunities, now they send the same person to EI and they ultimatley get the HII and everyone in Tribe A (with 8 members) votes for one of Tribe B (with 2 members) and if one of the 2 has the HII and plays it then a Tribe A person is voted out with 2 votes out of 10. It's just bullshit and thankfully hasn't really ruined someone yet but I guarentee people would be livid if that situation happened to Hatch or Heidik or Kathy or Courtney Y. or Yau-Man or some favorite. If they keep it, make it fucking hard to find or make it so it has to be used within two TC's of it's finding so they can do some interesting maneuvering and not just use it to "Fuck people over" who don't have a chance to defend themselves. You can Outwit, Outplay, but not Outlast someone if they get the LUXARY of LOOSING challenges and getting sent to EI.

Brendan was targeted because he was plotting against people on this own tribe. An argument may be able to be made that Taj was kept because she had an idol but, really, it was because Taj had no loyalty to Joe.

Well why....lets say even to a crazier extent they merge at 11. At final 11 when one tribe is 8 and one is 3, and th tribe with 3 is at TC, Jeff calls the Tribe with 8 in and says immediately that you have all just merged and says absolutely no talking. The tribe with 8 are sat almost like with Jeopardy patricians and have a trivia challenge for Individual Immunity. It could happen.....and all the same one person for a winning tribe would be voted out.....it sucks. Even the way I said it before it still sucks....lets say that the tribe of two merges with 8 and says that last TC they already used the HII so no one has it.....is that fair.....

Except the voting split included three original members of Fang before there was a Tribal to test loyalty. The smarter move is to vote for Dan wholly or, if you're afraid, vote for Susie wholly. If Dan has an idol, he goes to Randy. If Randy votes with them, which he very well might have, the vote becomes 3-3-1 with Charlie leaving.
