Modifying the word "COUNTY" with the word "ORANGE" implies that the definition of COUNTY is, well, non-orange.

Orange County = White people giving up Pilates due to the economic downturn.
Los Angeles County = Blacks and Mexicans pissed off their tv's don't work. |

I live in Orange County. Visited LA plenty of times.
Orange County is more suburban. I don't think of it as either aesthetically or culturally unified in any way. Walk several streets this way, it's rich white people. Walk several streets that way, its a poorer Hispanic community. Over here is an asian community. Over there is just some tracks of land. But Orange County is portrayed like a Beverly Hills fantasy on television. Which is, btw, in LA. OC is just so disparate. I think its one significant difference with LA is its fundamental contrast between urban and suburban. LA is urban- with all the benefits and detriments which come with that. And OC is suburban. |

Completely different,
LA is a shithole, OC is okay if you stay out of Santa Ana and parts of Anaheim (and Urban Sprawl needs to get out of OC to stop dragging down the property values) Both were so crowded that I moved to Arizona |

First of all:
Charming Nemesis wrote:This. Second, LA=urban OC=suburban? What is the urban that OC is sub to? LA? bwahaahaa. LA is a series of connected suburbs with a few downtowns. It's sprawling narcissistic nothingness, with a couple good museums here and there to give it some purpose for being. OC is just a waste of space if you travel more than 1/2 mile inland, and some overpriced space by the ocean. Other than the ocean, there is not much of value at all. Except those brilliant choppers. |

They both have amazing weather. Especially if you stay close to the coast.

The two places couldn't be more different, yet both so utterly horrendous.
Orange County is more suburban.Huh? This is sheer ridiculousness. LA is hot, dirty, run-down, and a concrete & asphalt wasteland. OC is hot, pretentious, full of strange people (both Amy and UC live there), and lots of poor people trying to emulate all the nouveau riche families scattered around, especially near South Coast and Laguna/Newport. I will admit that I do like going to the beach in HB and the Hyatt across PCH from the beach. |

What a stupid idea for a thread.
Is NJ anything like NYC? Is Dutch Country anything like Philly? LA - city OC - not YWIA. You REALLY need to get out into the world more JSL. -SJ™ |
