From a Sucks post I made a couple of years ago:
October 30, 1987 was arguably the greatest evening in the history of sitcom television. Because it was the original air date of the first Season Three episode of "Punky Brewster." So what? Because that was the (in)famous "Reading, Writing, And Rock & Roll" episode featuring DEBARGE! By 1987, James (the first Mr Janet Jackson) was subbing for a cracked out Eldra as lead singer, sister Bunny was also long gone to drug rehab, Bobby had made the "switch" over to the family group and Chico was the star sporting a blonde "Flock of Seagulls" haircut. You'll laugh, you'll cry, you'll scratch your head (while rolling your neck) at the horrendous acting all around and scream "WTF?" The facts that Chico and Bobby were already major drug trafficking kingpins (lol!) both en route to prison and by 1987 even the DeBarge goldfish were going through rehab makes this episode just even more incredible.... Yeaster doesn't read threads before responding to them. I find it refreshing.I do, actually, and I was being facetious when I asked "who is she." I've heard her name brought up a lot elsewhere but I haven't heard any of her music. |
