Our cable company just added a network called REELZ - and they're showing Ally McBeal! I loved the show when it was on and was really disappointed when it was cancelled. Now that I'm watching the reruns, I'm reminded how fantastic it really was! Sorry for the random post :-)

I watched the entire series in December on Netflix. It was so good in the beginning, but man, it went downhill.

Season five was rough, but I thought the Larry/Ally stories in Season 4 were the strongest of the entire series. I think as a show it really built to the last episode of season 4. After there it...ugh, I...It's like Will & Grace. I mentally re-write how the show ends. Instead of completely invalidating the entire story with Will & Grace's finale, I block it. With Ally McBeal, I pretend Larry comes back and they get married.

Season 1 was the best. I think it went downhill from there except for, as previously posted, the parts of season 4 that had Larry. Season 5 was bad, but it did have Bon Jovi so that was something to look at (love me some Bon Jovi). John Cage was always my favorite. I can't say my dream ending without spoiling, so I won't.
Anyway, if you started with season 1 and didn't like it, it won't get better. But there are some real laugh out moments and some interesting trials. I got lucky and was able to tape it off Reelz channel so for my rewatch, I didn't have to pay for it. |

I always enjoyed Seasons 2 & 3 over 1. Four was terrible. Five was spotty. I did enjoy Christina Ricci and even Claire Otoms, though.

I have fond memories of Ally ~ this was dedicated girl nite for BFF & me .. even after I moved an hour away, the season premiere, seaon finale, & 1x/month I drove up so we could watch it; the weeks I stayed home, we phone-watched.
And yes, Hayden was cute back then but it was total shark-jumping. The early years were stellar though.
