Agreed. This season REALLY fucking missed the boat with that one. What could have been AMAZING tv, they traded it in for some random bores we don't even
remember.

Agreed. Plus the wildcard sucked because we knew who was going to make it through even before they sang there songs. If the judges actually picked different wildcards to sing in the first place and actually picked the ones that were the best of the night it would've been fine. Instead Felicia, Junot and Mishavonna don't even get to sing. Ricky Braddy doesn't get picked when he should've because they already decided before they even sang that Jasmine, Megan, Matt and Anoop were going to be in the top 13. |

Aside from season 1, where they only picked one person, EVERY Wildcard night has been a fiasco. In season 2, they put in 3 people who hadn't even made it
to the semis and then picked the one who was worst (Caaaaaarmen) for the top 12, AFTER saying she was awful. In season 3, they didn't let 4 people sing and
then picked Leah over Suzy Vulaca or Matthew Metzger . This season, they picked randomly awful women for the wildcard instead of deserving ones, then picked
the people for the finals who they wanted regardless of how well or badly they sung. And Clay is still the only person from Wildcard to make the top 4. Face
it: Wildcard sucks.

well one thing's for sure, pimping by the judges seem to backfire right back at the judges. The last couple of winners had very minimal pimping at the
beginning of the show. In Fact, Kris, was practically invisible, Cook was pretty under the radar the first few rounds and Jordin came out of nowhere. (However,
the ones before that were heavily pimped and went on to win).

If AI picked legit wildcards and let what the public wants actually count for something it would be so much better. The fact that the judges comments now are so blatantly scripted to manipulate the audience into voting for who the show wants just makes it borderline unwatchable. I keep coming back just b/c I'm addicted and its like a train wreck, I just can't stop looking at it, even though its horribly disfigured and disturbing. |

I don't know how anybody who watched season 4 could ever forget Mikelah Gordon. Her singing voice sounded like Elmer Fudd (Deh's A Pwayss Fo Wuss,
Young Hots Wun Fwee, Wuv Will Weed You Back), her speaking voice sounded like Fran Drescher, she was 16 but could easily pass for 40, and she was easily the
most overweight white female contestant ever to make it to the semis, let alone the top 12. If all this wasn't memorable enough, she had an admirable sense
of humor about the whole thing. She once worse a T-Shirt saying "My job is to annoy you" to a results show, mugged shamelessly for the camera, and so
on. I still think she could have a great future (albeit as a comedian, not a singer).

Yeah, for as annoying as Mikalah was, she was very self-aware. I think she completely knew how she came off to other people and how she was perceived and
played that shit up.

Just going back to the top 24 vs. the top 36 system -- I actually think both have their good and bad points. I think the top 36 is a bit better. The Top 24
makes making the top 12 super easy. Seriously, you have to get more votes than just FOUR freaking people and you're in the Top 16 already, and you're
pratically there at that point.
Plus, I truly believe that Kris Allen would not even have been on the show in a top 24 -- he had to do a singoff to make the top 36. I really think he was one of the last ones they decided to put in -- probably #31-36 in their pecking order. In a Top 24 format with no Kris Allen, Adam Lambert sails to victory no problem (with Danny Gokey in 2nd), and it would have been very obvious from the start. Also, I think a top 36 makes a stronger final group. I can't believe it's just a coincidience that in every year with a top 32/36 format, the winner has wound up in the bottom 3 (except Kelly Clarkson, but season 1 is a bit of the exception since it had a top 10 and everything was new without the pimping, blah blah) while in every season with a Top 24, the winner has sailed to victory without ever being in the bottom 3 once, because the Top 24 lets the Haleys, Sanjyas, and Kevin Covais through to make a weaker 12. |
