X to the last two posts of this thread. I <3 Whitney Cummings and was she was a
g.oddess after being shit on everyone for being unknown.
<3ed this roast, although Lisa Lampanelli was missed -- if only to hear what others said about her moreso than her own jokes. |

Loved the Robin Quiver jabs. Gilbert was amazing. Whitney had a great set. Brad got a couple of good zingers. I missed Carl Reiner. Jeffrey is always good. I
expected more from Kathy. And I will always love Joan.

The only one I thought didn't do well was Tom Arnold (why was he there?) - looked really nervous and possibly coked out. Several jokes about Garrett
stealing others' material - wonder if there's some backstory there.
I believe I read somewhere that a LOT got cut out -- apparently Joan went on a Michael Jackson tirade when she had the kids on stage with her, and there were many more Edgar suicide jokes and Melissa sucks jokes. Also read that the audience turned on a few of the bits and they had to reshoot them with more laughter.

So the description for this thing in my cable guide last night listed Lily Tomlin as one of the roasters. Was she there and just not shown? Was that a typo on
Comedy Central's part?
Lily Tomlin's name was the very first one listed in the description, but Kathy Griffin's name was nowhere to be seen. Could they have somehow fucked up and put Tomlin's name instead of Griffin's? Considering Kathy's whole "D-List" routine, that's simply too funny if that is actually what happened. |

Oh yeah and I just gotta say...one of my favorite lines from the whole event was as they were cutting to commercial break and showing clips from the red carpet
beforehand. They showed a clip of Joan & Kathy, and Joan so nonchalantly says that her and Kathy "have a 10 year friendship that could all be over
tonight, and I think that's very exciting."

I miss Lisa Lampanelli.. she really needs to be on every roast. This was a good roast, but others have been better. Never really cared for Tom Arnold and I
still don't. I've seen Mario Cantone's stand up and he's much better. I think they cut some really funny stuff, there were lines in the promo I
was waiting to hear and never heard them. I think they wasted Carl Riener.. a "clean" old male comic being raunchy isn't half as funny as a
"clean" old female comic being raunchy (Betty White rocks at that).
Loved Kathy and Joan was great with her response. Gilbert Gottfried continually surprises me.. I can't stand to listen to him and always thought he was awful.. yet lately, he comes out with jaw droppingly funny lines. That underheard of woman was VERY funny. I also like how comics will say something truly horrid about a recent dead person, then look at the camera and just go "too soon?" I hope they release an uncut version. |

I loved when Melissa came up on stage and gave the reasons for not being on stage.

Oh yeah and I thought it was great when one of the roasters made the joke about Joan being the 5th celebrity to die this month and the audience went
"awwwwwww" and Joan actually turned to the audience and yelled "C'MON THAT'S FUNNY!!!"
And as much as I may dislike Donald Trump, I gotta say I thought his blurb about Joan was pretty damn good. |

Suzanne Somers was supposed to be there but cancelled at the last minute.
Was that Melissa's boyfriend sitting with her? He was hot. |

I loved when Robin told Joan that she loved seeing her in "The Wrestler"!

My favorites were the "when he heard they were roasting Joan he knew he had to be there... he tightened up his belt and came...just like David
Carradine"
and the one about Kathy being stitched up and sad just like the AIDS quilt. |
