Adam has the best chance of any second place finisher since Clay to outsell the winner. He's much more memorable than Kris and has a much larger base of
dedicated fans. Kris probably won due to the large number of people who dislike Adam, plus the AT&T "fix." Neither of these things will help him
sell CDs. So I think it could go either way. The quality of the CD, and--even more importantly--how much airplay it gets, are crucial to sales and impossible
for us to do more than guess about right now. Archie's dedicated tweentard fanbase, plus a decent quality CD, gave him the best 2nd place finisher's
sales besides Clay, but still not enough to beat Cookie.

I'm thinking "no".

Adam has the potential to outsellf Kris because his fan base is so much bigger. On the other hand, he's kind of polarizing so I'm not sure he connect enough with the mass audience to sell million(s). I doubt either he or Kris could sell more than Cook who has that soccer mom rock thing working for him. But I can't predict at all without hearing their songs. If Kris had one great song, he could outsell Adam easily because his stuff is less polarizing.

I wouldn't say that Kris is without his polarization too. A lot of people were turned off to him for "stealing" the title from Adam, and they
have taken it undeservingly out on him. Then there are people like me that think that every song he sings sounds exactly the same and the only place he should
be played is in the waiting room of a women's clinic. Kris is a nice guy, but he's boring.

I have no idea what he even sang this season on the show or the tour. |

I wish people would answer more objectively, and not make a prediction based on what they want to happen.

Adam's music probably will not be mainstream and might not even get played on top 40 radio thereby limiting his exposure and diminishing his sales audience. However, it should be noted that Adam's season 8 favorites album is STILL sitting at #56 on the itunes pop list and Kris' is nowhere to be found and hasn't been for over a month. And Adam's "album" has sold more than Double what kris' did even though most Adam fans were probably buying his singles throughout the season. For Kris it will come down to the quality of the songs on his album. If he can get good songs and get good radio play he could outsell Adam but he has to overcome the expectations already built in for Adam to soar, both from the media and industry as well as from fans. People are anticipating Adam's album, waiting for it, ready for it. I'm not sure the same can be said for Kris' although that doesn't mean that once Kris' is out it won't have longevity and ultimately end up doing better than Adam's, especially if Adam's doesn't live up to those high expectations. |

Kris needs to go the Jason Mraz route to sell well. I don't know how they will market him, I'm guessing in the same way. He's lucky he is cute,
that will move a certain amount of records.
Adam should do well by default cause of the fat fraus who wobble into Wal Mart and buy the c.d. while hubby's at home watching porn, much like Cook. I'm not to worried about that. Adam's true test comes with his second c.d. and how well he does then. But the Kanadianization slowly of this show tells me that more and more, none of them are gonna be big succeses. They need to bring in a new show, like X Factor and make stars there. American Idol's format is getting old. |

Highwind wants people would answer the thread's question more objectively, not based on what they wish would happen. Actually, by Sucks standards I think
we're doing pretty well. A couple of us, notably Opendoor, have said it could depend on ONE song getting a lot of airplay, to which I agree completely.
Others (including me) have also said that it could go either way. People who are POSITIVE that either Adam or Kris will sell more have been pretty rare on this
thread. And rightly so, give our track records. Remember all the people who were confident that Blake would outsell Jordin?
But let me admit my own prejudice: I can be pretty objective about this thread, because I don't care much for Kris OR Adam. What I want is for Allison to put out a fantastic CD and outsell both of them. And no, I'm not going to predict that will happen. 4th place finishers have had some of the most disappointing CD sales of anybody (Tamyra, Latoya and now Lakisha) so I'd be stupid to have much confidence that Allison will do well. |

I agree with the Kris/Jason Mraz. The thought of Kris having a hit like I'm Yours is delicious.

A lot of people were turned off to him for "stealing" the title from Adam, and they have taken it undeservingly out on him.for the most part they're generally out the idol bubble. the crazies will make an impact on first week sales, but after that, the general public will judge based on the first single they hear on the radio, and that will prove key to the album's long term success. all that shoulda won bullshit is out the window. Adam's music probably will not be mainstream and might not even get played on top 40 radioare you serious? but really, not a chance they're not angling for Top 40 mainstream. |

phnx, didn't say they weren't angling for it. Do I hope he does hit Top 40? fuck yes I do.
and Adam is working with Max Martin, Ryan Tedder, Linda Perry, RedOne and various other big name producers/writers so they are def angling him for mainstream success. However, that doesn't mean his particular style won't be to "out there" |
