The "Purgatory Island" twist is making Survivor Philippines really interesting!
Unknown to the remaining castaways, one voted off contestant has a chance to re-enter the game when the tribes merge into one.
Here's how it works:
Instead of going home, the first booted castaway is placed in Purgatory Island and forced to live by him/herself plus a dog.
The second voted castaway also goes to the Purgatory Island. However, only one person could stay on the island,
and the first booted castaway will have to defend his residency via a duel challenge. The winner will then continue
his/her stay in the island until a new voted off castaway shows up to challenge his/her for the island. The remaining castaway in the Purgatory Island when
tribe merges into one will re-enter the game!
So far, the "duel" had been combination of brawns and brains, as such, it is a "fair shot" for all castaways.
Unlike Survivor Pearl Island, the life in Purgatory Island is also shown on TV, as such; the viewers would really see the struggles that they are in.
This twist could have saved some of the interesting characters who were voted out pre-merge: Hunter, Kel, Joel Klug,Silas, Jessie Camacho, Hunter, Gabriel Cade, the All-stars pre-merge castaways, etc….
I am not sure if the tribes will be merging at 10 people or 9, but if they are merging at 10 and the 10th place would also given the chance to re-enter the game that would be awesome. Imagine Gretchen and Shii Ann….
