I never said I didn't want it on the album. I think it's important that it's on the album and I said it should be a bonus track like Carrie's IYH and it is.
But no one counts IYH as Carrie's 1st single off SH.

Under performing according to who?
Selling less than Archie's piece of crap song doesn't automatically equal under performing unless we've set a standard for performance beforehand. |

Under performing according to who?I would think based on the expectations placed on David, his single would be doing better. It has nothing to do with Archuleta, who is in a completely different market. They just chose the wrong first single. It's not David's fault. |

Finally someone makes a good point. IT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH ARCHULETA!
The only reason I personally keep mentioning him is because his fans (and some Cook fantards too if we're being realistic) think it's still a fucking competition. You're exactly right, they are in two completely different markets. |

Taylor domination. She's #1 on iTunes album chart with Archie #2 and #26. Any HDD numbers on how many albums Jive shipped? They used to give that info and
you could predict first week sales from that. I'm guessing Taylor will sell 300K and Archie half of that.

I've gotta give Taylor Swift a lotta credit, being 18 and writing most of her own music... she's rocking the charts and I've been listening to some
of the stuff off her album. Of course, I love Love Story, and White Horse is quite brilliant too.

Big Machine Country Diva Rides TV, Awards, Critical Praise to 500k+ in Sales, Archuleta, T-Pain, Now 29 Also on Tap November 12, 2008 That was Swift. Q4 gets underway in earnest this week, with Big Machine/Universal Republic country phenom Taylor Swift leading the way, according to preliminary reports from record retailers whose doors are still open around Obamaland. With Ellen DeGeneres devoting her entire show to the singer yesterday, and a performance of "Love Story" tonight at the nationally televised CMA Awards on ABC tonight, where she's nominated for Female Vocalist of the Year, Swift's new album Fearless is headed for first-week sales of between 500-550k, easily #1 next Tuesday. The album is #1 at iTunes, while critics have been effusive, with Rolling Stone giving the disc four stars and the N.Y. Times raving, "Ms. Swift has quickly established herself as the most remarkable country music breakthrough artist of the decade. One of Nashville's most exciting songwriters." Jive/ZLG American Idol runner-up David Archuleta is headed for an impressive 225-240k for his self-titled debut album, good for second place, thanks to the smash single, "Crush." Labelmate T-Pain gives the House of Weiss two in the Top 3 with his latest effort, Thr33 Ringz, his tribute to the art of the Auto-Tune, looking at between 175-190k. UMe's Now 29 returns with first-week sales in the 160-170k range, a far cry from its glory days, but probably good enough for #4. Reprise veteran New Age goddess Enya is back, looking like 85-95k, while RCA/RMG songstress Christina Aguilera's greatest hits Target exclusive should do at least 75k, maybe more, with both locks for the Top 10. WB's Seal looks in the 30-40k range. Also headed for this week's Top 10 is Target's exclusive Christina Aguilera looking like a lock for 75K, maybe higher. One caveat: With Veteran's Day this Tuesday and many consumers off work and out of school, Tuesday sales could be somewhat higher than normal. The market was up 1% over last week, down 29% vs. the same week last year and now down 13% year to date. You may now return to watching your 401(k) drop. |

Idol Sales Summary From USA Today (11/12) | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

Jennifer continues to sell steadily, racking up another 26,000, according to Nielsen SoundScan, to lead the Idol contingent on the Billboard album chart.
That's down 17%, not a severe drop; on the chart, she slips from No. 14 to No. 16, again not a bad move considering there were five debuts ahead of her.
Carrie, on the eve of her CMA co-hosting gig tonight, stays at No. 49 but increases sales 7% to 12,000 for a total of 2.41 million. Kellie drops 78-90, selling 6,000, down 13%, for a total of 92,000, and needs that second single for a sales rebound. Daughtry returns to the top 100, 102-94, selling 6,000, up 10%, for a total of 4.27 million. And Jordin slips 146-154, selling 4,000, a 1% drop, for a total of 949,000. That last 50,000 will be the toughest. Off-chart Idols in all their profusion follow. Carrie's Some Hearts sold 4,400, up from 4,000, for a total of 6.57 million. Bucky stayed at 2,000, totaling 380,000. Kelly's Breakaway sold 900, down from 1,000, for a total of 6.03 million. My December stayed at 300, total 777,000; Thankful sold 200, down from 300, total 2.71 million. Kristy Lee stayed at 800 for a total of 21,000. As Christmas music begins to dominate our audio environments, for better or worse (I noticed both sides of the issue brought up in the random thread over the weekend), Elliott's My Kind of Holiday gets a boost from 500 to 700, for a total of just about 3,000. His first album stayed at 200 for a total of 517,000. Kellie's Small Town Girl stayed at 700, total 793,000. Josh stayed at 500, total 68,000. Mandisa's It's Christmas jumped from 100 to 400 for a total of 600, while her first album climbed from 200 to 300 for a total of 99,000. Brooke rose from 100 to 200 for a total of slightly above 10,000. Clay's On My Way Here stayed at 200 for a total of 154,000, and Merry Christmas With Love crossed the 100 mark this week for a total of 1.36 million. Fantasia stayed at 100, total 518,000. Katharine stayed at 100, total 373,000. Blake stayed at 100, total 304,000. Bo stayed at 100, total 62,000. Ace stayed at 100, total 9,000. Taylor's Early Works, Paris' Royal Christmas and Phil's debut remained in the "negligible" sales category, too low to report. |

Wow, I honestly can't believe that there's a possibility Archuleta's album will sell 240 K. It's so fucking awful, these people have got to be
buying it without hearing samples first.

Idol sales: Downloaders have more of a crush on David A.Despite a drop on the digital songs chart from No. 15 to No. 19, David A.'s Crush gained 4% in downloads, selling 58,000 for a total of 920,000 -- and if it gets a boost from the release of his album, the song may pass 1 million next week. Meanwhile, Angels drops 53-111 in its second week, selling 10,000, down 56%, for a total of 34,000. Jordin's One Step at a Time drops 43-49, selling 25,000, off by 7%, for a total of 956,000, so it appears to be a couple of weeks away from the million mark. No Air dips 108-110, selling 10,000, off just 1%, for a total of 2.56 million. Carrie's Just a Dream is up 68-61, selling 19,000, a 5% increase, for a total of 347,000. David C.'s Light On is down a notch, 66-67, after selling 18,000, a drop of 7%, for a total of 226,000. The Time of My Life falls 112-125, selling 9,000, down 8%, for a total of 990,000, meaning a million is imminent in this case too. Jennifer's Spotlight dims 60-68, selling 18,000, off by 12%, for a total of 278,000. Daughtry's What About Now slides 113-128, selling 9,000, a 9% drop, for a total of 461,000. Half a million could be in its grasp in a month. Bucky's I'll Walk returns to the chart at No. 198, selling 7,000, up 8%, for a total of 102,000. Michael asked about Kelly's Never Again's download sales. The main version, as would be reflected on this chart, has sold 991,000, but two alternate versions add 19,000 to the total, bringing it to 1.01 million |
