Carrie Underwood, the 2005 "American Idol" champ, put a country charge into the Canadian album charts this week, but it wasn't enough to dethrone the King of Pop.

Underwood's third effort, "Play On," had the top entry, coming in at No. 2 with sales of 15,000, according to figures compiled by Nielsen SoundScan.

"Play On" came close to matching the sales of her last album, "Carnival Ride," which entered the charts at No. 1 with 17,000 in sales back in 2007. (For the completists out there, her first studio effort, "Some Hearts," came in at No. 20 in November of 2005.)

However, Underwood's debut wasn't enough to unseat Michael Jackson's "This Is It," which remained at No. 1 for a second consecutive week, racking up another 19,000 in sales.
