I thought I'd google low blood pressure (LBP) to see why it was considered that bad by Jeff .
(Anti- I wasn't sure where to put this. Some die-hard fans might consider it to be a spoiler if I post it in Sucks proper. You can move it, or lock it, if you think it shouldn't be here).
I thought it would be interesting to find out more about why LBP turned out to be so life-threatening for Russ S. Here's some info that I found. I'll just c&p the pertinent parts.

Low blood pressure (hypotension) is pressure so low it causes symptoms or signs due to the low flow of blood through the arteries and veins. When the flow of blood is too low to deliver enough oxygen and nutrients to vital organs such as the brain, heart, and kidney, the organs do not function normally and may be permanently damaged.
When there is insufficient blood pressure to deliver blood to the coronary arteries (the arteries that supply blood to the heart's muscle), a person can develop chest pain (a symptom of angina) or even a heart attack.
Shockis a life-threatening condition where persistently low blood pressure causes organs such as kidney(s), liver, heart, lung, and brain to fail rapidly.
Protracted and severe dehydration can lead to shock, kidney failure, confusion, acidosis (too much acid in the blood), coma, and even death.
How is low blood pressure diagnosed and evaluated?
In some individuals, particularly relatively healthy ones, symptoms of weakness, dizziness, and fainting raise the suspicion of low blood pressure. In others, an event often associated with low blood pressure, for example a heart attack has occurred to cause the symptoms.
Low blood pressure that causes an inadequate flow of blood to the body's organs can cause strokes, heart attacks, and kidney failure. It's most severe form is shock~~~~~~~~~~~~
I'm guessing that he went into severe shock from dehydration and exertion and fell into a coma (remember that he had just done the strenuous task of rolling the ball for who knows how long).
He probably was completely unresponsive with extremely low vital signs. They might have thought that he also had a heart attack from the exertion.
Just thought I'd put this out there so that we could see why it was considered so bad. I never knew that LBP could be considered so dangerous. I think most of us have gotten light-headed and dizzy (which is a sign of LBP) from diarrhea and vomiting and the resulting dehydration, but never to this extent.
