As a reference, the colors of the lane line to each person's left matches the bags. So the order should be: 1. Jaison - brown; 2. Laura - red; 3. Natalie -
navy blue/black; 4. Monica - green; 5. Russell - pink; 6. Brett - royal blue; 7. Mick - orange/red; 8. Dave - light green; 9. John - purple; 10. Kelly -
(can't tell color); 11. Shambo - yellow

a few things....
This pic looks so fake to me. Mick is in shadow when in all the other pics (including dave's arm in the same pic), the sun is facing the front of them (shadows cast behind them). Plus Dave is just standing there with his arm hanging. If he was still competing, his arm would be doing something, not hanging limp. (especially with no rope in his hand). Maybe a super thick cloud covered a tiny portion of the sun exactly where Mick was standing? lololol As for the "Laura/Russel, it's a race", I agree with whoever said it's probably just down to Laura or Russell to fill that last spot to move on to the next round. If it was just the two of them facing off, the above statement from Jeffy would be redundant. As for the "Russell has moved" theory.... If the purple flag is to the left of Russell .... 
and to the right of Brett.... 
and Brett & Russell are next to one another..... 
it stands to reason that all shots of Russell are of that original position next to Brett and beside the purple flag. |

ETA screencap. at 24 seconds in, Kelly's knee sock leg shows up between John & Shambo. (look right in front of Laura's face.

Still no evidence of a second challenge yet and we know they must do some short cycle episodes to meet the schedule, so this could be a combined RC/TC.
TDT thinks this shot of Kelly may be her on reward at Sliding Rocks, about a hour away from camp. 
She is saying to someone else present "You think Russell?", which would indicate Russell is not there.

At the beginning of the preview Laura says: "Russell is going home tonight." Could mean that Russell
doesn't have immunity, or that was just filmed before the immunity challenge on immunity/tribal council day.

Interesting that "sliding rocks" is a very different thing from "rock slide", which would be a worse reward than a bag of Doritos.
Could mean that Russell doesn't have immunity, or that was just filmed before the immunity challenge on immunity/tribal council dayOr that the promo monkeys used a snippet from last week, or next week. But, yeah, way to listen closely! I could believe Russell is good at the tossing and retrieving. It's sort of a cast net thing, something someone who grew up on the water could have experience with. However, they been sort of mixing the challenges up more the last several seasons, so I'd tend to guess that the second portion is something completely different. Whatever is in those bags isn't terribly big. |

With the utter lack of info from the promos I suspect we may have a surprise coming this episode.
<please please please please> Survivor Maps has the camps and challenge areas on the south side of the island. The long shadows from the right indicate the grappling challenge occurred very early in the day, which leads me to suspect a combined RC/IC and a short cycle episode. <spec> There are a gazillion possibilities but the simplest would be the first three finishers go on reward and the first finisher (or winner of the second part of the challenge) gets immunity. Missing Mick is apparently either well hidden, or the first finisher. We see Kelly apparently on reward. "Laura! Russell! It's a race!" Laura must win the last spot because Russell is being discussed at the natural water slide. Laura and Kelly are already gunning for Russell and are trying to coax Mick to flip. If Mick is convinced a former Foa is going to go, then maybe "Russell is going home tonight." is true. </spec> |

I guess a combined reward and immunity challenge would be a little unexpected for the players, but it's not epic. Interesting if the entire challenge is retrieving the bags, with the top three getting reward. Once Mick and Kelly are 1-2, I would think both Russell and Laura would want to avoid being the third. They've got a core ally on reward, they don't want to isolate their entire alliance off sliding on rocks. If they're still competing, either they're dumb, or there's a second round which will actually determine the winner. |

Since we know the Samoa crew has been cribbing from Tocantins, I'm betting they picked up those bad habits as well. |
