Impressions on contestants:
Still close with Brad, and actually met his wife through Brad.
Candice is a good friend of his, received a lot of hate mail from fans and from white supremacists who wanted Raro to win. Took a lot of it personally and became depressed afterward.
Ozzy received a lot of praise and adoration and let it go to this head. Yul never directly criticized Ozzy, but he said he was young and by letting everything go to his head, it affected him negatively.
Becky was a strong, out spoken individual that was completely shut out of the show because of her placement. No, they did not hook up.
When asked about his strategy, someone referred to Adam/Parvati calling him "the puppetmaster." He retorted, "Yeah, but that's Adam and Parvati - the bar is set pretty low with them."
Said Parvati was only there to flirt, and slept her way to her win on FVF. Had to stop her from seducing Ozzy on the reward by getting Ozzy drunk enough that he passed out.
He was considered for FVF but he wasn't asked back because they didn't want winners. He said wasn't asked for ASS2 and wouldn't have gone anyway. He wanted to move on with his life and doesn't want to be "that Asian Survivor guy." Called it "Super All Stars" and said he wasn't really allowed to comment, but did confirm that Parvati and Candice were on when I directly asked him. Also claimed he wasn't involved "because [he's] not on an island right now," so he's good at diversion.
Very frustrated with the fact that Ozzy/Penner/Parvati/Candice were the only reps from the season in FVF and ASS2. Said it showed CBS's true colors and intentions regarding the Cook Islands, and that the racial tribes were a publicity stunt for ratings and NOT to get more minorities on the show.
In general, very negative about CBS and their casting for stereotypes. Most interesting was his story of meeting EPM during casting. Mark is apparently pretty racist and asked why Chinese and Japanese and Korean people don't all get along. Made Yul explain the differences between them, asked him "where are you REALLY from?" and if he's ever going "back to Korea." Asked Yul the difference between North and South Korea, and "What's wrong with the Vietnamese?"
The camera crew got so bored filming that they invented a game where they would throw rocks at each others' heads. One time they missed and hit Becky in the head, and Yul said she reacted by saying "What the fuck?!"
Injuries:
He broke his nose in the first challenge when someone hit his face with an oar.
He slept in his contacts, so after a week when he opened his eyes underwater during a challenge, they got infected. I guess that's why he's wearing glasses later in the game.
He bled when he used the restroom, but didn't want to tell the medics because he was worried they would pull him from the game.
All in all, I was pretty impressed. He's charming, humble, and kind of funny in a corny way. I didn't expect to like him as much as I did.
