Okay, I suppose the constant blacking out of my laptop screen is a good signal that I need to stop procrastinating and go buy one.
I've had this Toshiba for 3.25 years, and it's finally done. What should I go for now? Stick with Toshiba or go another route? I don't think there's too much difference between the different brands, is there...? Please make some recommendations as to which brand to go for, and the one's to stay away from (my friend just bought a Sony one last week and is already repairing it, so I think I'll stay away from Sony)... Acer? HP? Compaq? Dell?
And what's with the Intel Core Duo, Pentium, etc. processors? If I keep my computer use pretty simple... browsing, one or two low-req games, school stuff, etc., what should I go for? Are processors speeds just important for how many programs you have open at a time?
What about the GHz? This Toshiba is on XP, and the 0.99 GHz has always worked fine for me.. but betting that the GHz req for Windows 7 will be higher??
Oh and NO MACS. I'm a starving student so I can't afford 'em! :)
