I'm never getting a flu shot!!!

What isn't being clarified is that it doesn't matter.

A flu shot tricks your body into creating immunity to the flu by releasing dead versions of the virus so your immune system thinks it's under attack and creates antibodies. In very rare cases, the immune system gets its lines crossed and starts attacking the body itself, resulting in various auto-immune disorders like Guillain-Barre (the one everyone associates with the vaccine because it got hundreds of people during the '76 outbreak). Because these extreme reactions are a result of your own immune system going wonky, the truth is that it can happen to you after any infectious agent enters your body. You can get GBS or lots of other nasty stuff as a result of the regular flu, or cold or stomach virus or lots of other contagious diseases. The chances are like 1 in 100,000 or less so what you're doing when you're getting a flu shot is playing Russian roulette with a revolver that has 100,000 chambers and one bullet. But you play every time you get sick normally anyway.

The only thing is this girl has dystonia and I'm not sure that is an auto-immune disorder.
