There is no gold standard anymore.
But just in case, Dad's death left me with lots of ostentatious Italian jewelry. |

I heard somewhere that all the gold in the world would fit into a space the size of an olympic-sized swimming pool.

Well, I saw it on TV that all the gold in the world would create a cube of such-and-such dimensions!

That is so not true. Just talk to any Ethiopian woman, they all own gold. The same for Armenia. Gold is central for many cultures. The Chinese like to sprinkle
gold dust on sushi. In fact, there's more gold in the world than people.

Gold is useless! It is not worth much in terms of manufacture quality for any scientific element. Sure people wear gold, and use it to measure wealth, but in
reality it could end up in a museum and silver becomes the new gold.

Yukumanchew wrote: Gold is very useful to determine the relative value of various currencies. Since the time the price of gold doubled from $500 to $1100, the price only rose by about 15 percent in terms of the Euro. This is the best measure of the relative value of the US Dollar versus the Euro. Why is this helpful? For one thing, it means that all the excitement about the price of gold rising can really be better understood as the value of the US Dollar falling. The big news about gold prices has more to do with the value of the US Dollar falling than it has to do with the value of gold rising and that is good to understand. |

Silence is golden. That's an adage I took to heart for a few decades. Then I thought that if you just spill the beans, people will like you better. Funny
how the opposite happenend.
