I saw the 60s/70s pot thread, and I figured this would be a fitting time to ask: has anyone ever tried salvia? What were your experiences? I have been
considering trying it for ages, but I worry I would not handle the trip well.
Hallucination stories are most welcome. |

I think I asked about this in a generic "what drugs have you done" thread a few months ago. I don't believe anyone had tried Salvia divinorum.
As a horticulturist I really like the genus Salvia so I did some research on this drug but I've never tried it. The Youtube videos I have seen the people on it look like gibbering, drooling, idiots. My old roommate was really into psychotropics. I should ask him if he ever did this. |

I don't like Salvia. It was kind of interesting for about ten minutes, then it made me feel uncomfortable for about 30 minutes afterwards. NOT WORTH IT.
But the hallucinating was kind of fun. I've heard there are no adverse health effects for using it on a regular basis, but that seems weird.
Another side effect: Sweating profusely. |

I'm not a "partier" anyway, so that would not be an issue.
If, hypothetically speaking, one had never travelled but wished to try salvia anyway, would you recommend the 5x, or would that be too strong? The regular leaves instead? |

the 'problem' with SD is that the vaporisation temperature of the active component is high and requires adept administration. many users will roll the
product in a spliff and get not much more than a headache. other users smoke the extracts and massively misjudge the dose.
save for the widely discredited chidester case there are no documented cases of harm resulting from occasional nor long term use. however, SD will take you to a place you've never been before (suddenly), and back to baseline (in minutes). this can be disconcerting. |

I have tried it and I like it a lot. I've tried the 5x before, and today I just got some 20x. I am very excited to test that out. You people who say that you didn't feel anything weren't smoking it the right way. The best way to do it is to take a long, deep, bong hit and hold it down as long as possible. I've tried it in a glass pipe and it doesn't have the same effect.
My favorite time to smoke it is when I am watching a movie. It really pulls you into the film instantaneously. It's quite amazing. The high only lasts 5 minutes or so, but there are lingering effects for a few hours. It's not as intense as acid or mushrooms, so if you have never tried those but are curious as to what it feels like - you should try salvia first. |

i just experienced this at home for the first time...it was 80x or whatever....i made sure to take a strong puff and put the pipe down and sit down immediately...the today show never looked so fucked up for about 5 minutes...the hallucinations are stronger than lsd, but it lasts for only 5minutes with a sense of feeling stoned for about an hour...i think i'll stay away from that shit for quite a while...it came in a little vile...guranteed it will be banned by the dea in a matter of months or a year...holy shit is all i can say!!

I tried it once... It was nothing special. You have to smoke it "right". If you want to try it, have a friend with you and only do a teeny bit at first. I certainly didn't have any tripping kind of experience... It made everything awesome for about a minute.

what i thought was a small amount in the pipe since it came in a small vile was wayyy too much for a first time user....good thing the wife wasn't here....she probably would haved called 911 thinking i was having a stroke because there is no way i could have had a coherent conversation...anyway, this is not something you'd want to do all the time
