While I can't stand the attention whore, I'm not saying OMG HE SUCKS SOOOOO BAD. I just don't understand the rationale behind calling him an amazing strategist. Any help?

Is Russell really a good strategist? |
Lead | |

I've seen a lot of post talking about how Russell is an amazing strategist and all, but is he really? Pre-merge he was all about weakening his tribe, which
arguably forced his tribe to go into the merge 4 to 8. The Erik boot was all Jaison and Natalie. While getting John to flip was a major move, did he really do
anything else? Getting rid of the rest of Galu was a simple Reverse Pagonging.

In his mind he was the best strategist ever, and his delusion was reinforced when he got 90% of the screen time on the show.

Russell, Jeff and every other Russell supporter should be shot in the head point blank.
I think that he played a decent game, but i'm so sick of this HE GOT ROBBBED reaction. Bitch please, he sucked at the social game, which IS part of the game, and got lucky with the Idols. |

Jeff has never said Russell was a good strategist nor has Jeff ever said Russell is the best player ever.
Jeff even said so himself in some interview over the weekend - if Russell can't even win the game, he's not the best player ever. |

Obviously a bobble-headed underwear model who is a stunning representation of women (look at all that talent and independence, and she speaks up so freely
too!) and played the game by hiding behind Russell's legs while he took everyone out, is a better strategist.

Russell made a lot of good strategic moves-but he made some very poor ones too. The difference is, in this season, as far as a strategic player goes, there
really wasn't much to choose from. The FoaFoas simply followed Russell's lead, and NEVER made any strategic plays, and that does include Natalie(the
Eric boot being somehow credited to Natalie boggles my mind). On the Galu tribe, bad strategy ruled the season for the tribe, they were terrific at challenges,
but treating Shambo as an afterthought, sending her over to Foa Foa twice in a row, those moves are stupid. Then the "plan" to cast their votes
against John to create the tie, before the decision was even discussed with John, that move was stupid. Even the vote against Russell thinking that he
didn't have the HII was stupid, there were Foa Foa members that they were damn sure didn't have the idol that they could have taken out, again, stupid.
It wasn't so much that Russell was a master strategist, it is that in this season-he was the ONLY strategist.

Russell's strategy consisted of claiming credit for whoever got the boot, whether he had anything to do with it or not. And America bought it.

Ugh, Natalie had barely anything to do with Erik getting voted off. She just said "omg, do u think we can trust him?!" when everyone was already
having doubts. It was like telling george Bush that there maybe might be weapons in the middle east: he's going there anyways, doesn't matter what
you're saying.

His strategy was fine for somebody on such a losing tribe. It was his social game that was brutally inept.

He`s overestimating himself, I thought that was accepted fact by now.

Russell is a good strategist, but no where near the best.
It's quite clear he really didn't understand the game, and I think in order to be considered the best strategist you have to at least be able to do that. Was he good: Yes, Did he deserve to win: No, because he never knew how to win in the first place. |

Russell isn't a bad strategist so long as the strategy has nothing to do with winning over a jury.

Is Russell really a good strategist? No. He didn't do anything this season that other Survivor players in the past haven't done. The majority of his moves were done better by past players. |

Why the hell do people keeping saying finding a HII has anything to do with strategy? That's common damn sense.

Im just making the counterpoint to your point that he didnt do anything that other players have... Why won't you admit that landing on the island and
immediately starting to look isn't strategy?

Deciding who goes home does not make you a good strategist. It just means that you happened to wind up in a power position. Voting those people off in such a
way that they still respect you and want you to win the money is what makes a good strategist. Plenty of previous winners who had been the main power players
were able to win because they had great social games and formed bonds with enough people to get them the win (Earl, Todd, Parvati). Russell did not.
