The only purge survivors I know of are Ben and Ethan. The rest of the "others" were whoever they were. That will never really be known. What about Kevin?

And, in essence, it may have been a place where the writers were going-to create another existence by fake-blowing up the current one. Then, as in a card trick, "seeing is not always believing" and we were fooled cleverly. But dang, how sad is it that Jack and Hurley came back to the island only for Jack to die there and Hurley to stay there. Jack was, in the end, the tragic hero. Then again, how horribly sad it was to find out that Jin and Sun DID die on the sub and their daughter would never know them. I think that's the saddest part of the whole sideways world being purgatory. But they did reunite so there could be happiness.

Jin and Sun randomly die without Jin getting to ever see his daughter, but Kate is one of the few to actually make it off the island and for what? To be co-mommy to Aaron? I don't understand why the writers didn't just have them stay there with Hurely and eventually die on the island if the the rest of their lives and the people they met from that point on didn't matter anyway. Why write in a random group of people escaping when the very idea of one of the Oceanic six just showing up alive again with two other 815 passengers who were supposed to be dead and some guy that will have no record of existing becuase he was born in the early 1800's is totally ridiculous. No way they're going to come up with a lie that will explain how Ajira landed safely on some random undiscovered island that had a runway and then somehow managed to pick up a couple of people from a previous crash that took place in a completely different part of the world as well as a few new people along the way as well all while the majority of the original Ajira passengers wound up dead somehow. Did the writers really have nothing else to do this season that they felt it necessary to have a "fly off the island" subplot that was ultimately pointless, not to mention absurd, just to pad out the show? How interesting it would have been if they all died on the island (except Ben and Hurley) thus REALLY making us think that the sideways world could only exist if they all died (only to realize that they actually DID die), or maybe that would make it too sad because by having a few random people leave, there is some sort of continuity. What the HELL did I just say? Can someone please interpret the above because I have no friggin' idea what I just said!

Also, how and why did Jack teleport out of it for his death scene? I'm okay with not knowing but it seems a little messy.
