I loved it.

color me surprised at the positive feedback!
I really thought the whole burglary attempt is just nonsense... walking up to a doorman and asking "do any celebrities live here and what are their apartments?" and the keys.... are there REALLY going to be a bunch of easily accessible duplicate copies of keys, clearly labeled and in an open cabinet, for anyone to steal? And wouldn't the property management firm immediately have the locks on all doors changed once they realised the keys were missing? And wouldn't there be like a billion security cameras that would've caught these lousy robbers? I know it's just a sitcom so you're supposed to have some level of suspension of disbelief but it was like an insult to the viewer's intelligence. Unfortunately, there seems to be some inverse relationship between how dumb I think a show is and how popular it is with the general public so I guess I need to resign myself to accepting it will be a hit. Quote: because it's just so madcap and wacky!!!! :eyes |

^^^It's a New York City apartment building not Fort Knoxx, relax.
I liked the enemble cast. I can see where it'll get better. Though the pilot was a bit tough to sit through at times. In Case of Emergency should be cancelled right now. That show was horrible. And the only character I liked was Kelly Hu and dare I say it "The Single Guy." I guess it's a requirement that any show he be on have at least one Asian woman on it. |

I took over a very fancy apartment complex in California and was surprised to find the keys set up just like that. We had a spare key to every apartment and they all had tags with the unit number on them.
First thing I did was change that to a new system that didn't use the unit numbers. :) I thought the show has promise. Much better than that crap fest that followed it. |

I thought this was a great show, and I hope it sticks around. At this point, American Idol is SO played out. Not too many people I know watch it anymore until the final rounds. How much Simon can you really take?
Mick Jagger and David Letterman are listed as executive producers, along with about 3 other people, including the creators. There's also a co-executive producer, and Logue and 2 other people are listed as producers, so there's alot of push behind this. I think they captured the spirit of the people of New York, as I could identify every one of the characters. Mick was awesome, and the manservant is hysterical. They're repeating this Friday at 9 in case anybody missed it. |

I really enjoyed it. I thought the hidden disposable camera bit was hilarious.
"In Case of Emergency" on the other hand, good God that show was mind-numbingly bad. |

Quote: Mork and Mindy. Third Rock From The Sun. Cast of Friends being able to afford those apartments and furniture. Cliff Clavin, Woody, Coach. Michael Scott of The Office (and Dwight). Any and all plots written for My Name Is Earl. And and all plots written for Scrubs. Ted Baxter, Sue Ann Nivens, Georgette. Mr. Ed. Every single case ever shown on Boston Legal. Anything seen on CSPAN -- oh, no... wait. That is actually real. I could go on with the list, but you get the point. There's very few comedies that ever function without unbelievable characters, plots, or premises. That's what makes TV fun sometimes -- just relaxing and enjoying silliness. The pilot wasn't half bad. There's potential here, but I suspect ABC will fuck it up, especially if it remains paired with ICE. When the regular season returns in a couple weeks, Wednesday night is packed with options. No one is going to tune in for a single half hour of decent comedy. ABC needs a solid block of shows they can air on TUESDAY. Put this along with something else decent and play them both at 9 PM, just before Boston Legal. THEN they'll have a hit. Better yet, put KOP and something else on at 8 PM, followed by Ugly Betty, then Boston Legal. ABC would win the ratings for that night. I'll give it a few more chances. Ensemble casts minus laugh tracks, plus celebrity cameos and a fast pace... not bad at all. |

Quote: I hope you're not referencing me. All I'm saying is that it was slightly better than I thought it would be, but please be advised I thought ABC had wussed out and that it would stink to high heaven. 2 more eps; if it stays at last night's level, I'm out. I'm only in it for the Jagger angle. BTW, the Colombian chick wasn't all that. BTW pt. 2, how come they had to copy My Name is Earl with the hot Hispanic chick? I think I saw a number of other wannabe knock-off plagiarisms, too. MNE is funny. This thing isn't. Yet? |

Not referncing anyone in particular, just everyone except apparently the one other person who thought this was crap like I did. Quote: Indeed, but my point was this was even dumber than I expected...I MEAN REALLLLLLLLY. Who tells every fucking person they encounter they intend to rob Mick Jagger??? Honestly? What was the point of that?? They could've worked the hot chick into the group some other way. It would have been ok if it made the show funnier but it didn't. It seemed to me they wanted to show to be offbeat funny like, say, Scrubs, but it was just not as smartly done. Then again, it IS a pilot. And pilots aren't always indicative of what a show can do. (The American "Office" pilot - a verbatim but somehow vastly inferior version of the British pilot - is a prime example) But having seen some amazing pilots over the past couple years it's definitely possibly to do a great one. |

Thanks Suit.
Quote:Correct me if I'm wrong but AI results is on at 9 for a half hour on Wed. so there will be a free half hour up for grabs (not sure what Fox will air in that prime spot). That is why I previously commented on how KOP should have gotten the 9:30 slot w/ IOE on at 9 since that's a lost cause anyway. At least give KOP a chance- I liked it and I'd like to think I'll be able to see how the KOP (if they do) rob Mick Jagger b/c I think that as well as the set ups (like the key debacle in the pilot) will be hilarious. |

I like this show - it's cute. It doesn't make me laugh, but it does make me smile and holds my interest for the half hour. As long as they air this, I will watch.
The best part is always when they actually go through w/ the plan that they brainstormed throughout the whole episode at the end - getting keys in pilot and now getting the access code. LOVED the T-Shirts at the end and the theme song. |

Re: Second Episode | ||

"they rob from the rich to give to themselves" - that is some inspired theme song lyric writing.
i also really liked the whole @#%$ dialogue in the bar scene and thereafter. and i never complain about the casting of hot hispanic women, even when it's derivitive. |

Yikes. I thought when it wasn't cringe-inducing, it was boring. Maybe I don't situational comedies, but whatever this is, it didn't do anything for me.
One more ep, and then sadly, I think I'm out. |

I'm watching the 3rd ep right now. Not as great as the first two, but still enough chuckles to keep me coming back. And the reprise of the theme song at the end credits is fun.
Thumbs up for the coffee filter yarmulke, "pressure points and surprise", and a shirtless Donal Logue. |

Re: Second Episode | ||

The ratings for this comedy really suffered last night now that it's up against Idol which we all saw coming a mile away. I don't see it lasting more than this season if that. ABC is better off showing some reality show that costs less in the timeslot opposite Idol on Wed. b/c no one is watching theur comedies, well...the ones on after According to Jim.
Honestly, I don't think the shit ratings have anything to do w/ the quality of KOP. I think that no matter how amazing this half hour comedy was, it was going to fail. |
