These movies are actually pretty good. They make me think this show has some potential after all.
I'm just waiting for them to get to the point where there's few enough people to justify me bothering to learn their names. |

I have a question, what does acting like a dictator have to do with crying because you lost your dream?

Its difficult to judge those movies fully when each of those scenes are like 12 seconds each. Wasn't fair for the viewer.

I hate how this show is edited. Why do they only show us the same 5 people over and over again, and why waste time showing us recaps within the episode when this episode was only half an hour? Did we really need reminders of things we were shown less than 10 minutes ago? Ugh. I really wanted to see all the short films instead of the pointless bickering between 2 contestants.

Why do they keep showing the same 2 or 3 groups? It's really annoying, actually.

I hope they show just 2 groups next week and ignore the other ones.

I'm hoping all the movies are on the site tomorrow. I'd enjoy watching them.

They made this show feel tier 2 by only allowing it 35-40 minutes, instead of letting it go over like the preceeding show did.
They also should have gotten a bigger director to fill Brett Rattner's shoes (whatever his name is). It would make the show feel more important. Since George Lucas isn't doing anything nowadays (that I know of), he would be a good candidate for that. Then have like Robert DeNiro as the other judge, and some well known female director as the other one. |

Problem - too many people to start. You want to get to know people in a reality show. We only saw a couple of 'em. If this was edgic, 3/4 of the contestants would have been INV. Bad editing, Mr. Burnett.
okay thing - this is going to be a primer for the movie biz. Starting with "the pitch" was perfect. You gotta be a salesman. Today's task - working well with others. Next ep - deadlines. All basic stuff, but fun seeing egos self-destruct when confronted with the simplest concepts. I bet a lot of budding "all I wanna do is direct" people are going to eat this up. But is that a big demographic??? Recall "Action!" - one of the funniest TV shows I've ever seen. I think it lasted 10 weeks. I know show biz is all wrapped up in itself, but sometimes their egos are so big that they think everyone else must also be fascinated with how movies are made. Let's see if the ratings match that. (Okay, I guess I'm one of that demographic...) Good thing - there is some talent here. The FX stuff was great, but not because it was brilliant or anything. Jaws were dropping in the room, which was good because some of these semi-talented egos got slammed down. I got the sense that a lot of them couldn't come up with a pleasant little idea like time standing still - and then executing it nicely - in a month, let alone a day. All the rest of the shorts pretty much screamed, "Yeah, I can do that." The time standing still one didn't. I'm not saying it was genius, but just that I loved seeing these people intimidated. Very good thing - the fat guy with the attitude departed. I hate when people put their hands on my shoulders or arms when they talk - I swear to god the first time he grabbed my shoulders he would have had a knee in his crotch. Big Fat Bullying Intimidating Jerk. And without much talent to boot. And he cried! good stuff. By ep 2 in a good reality series there are people I like and people I don't. So far in this series there is nobody in either category. Danger, Will, Danger. |

At least we didn't get to see Chelsea Handler this episode. We got a voiceover instead. The less of her the better.
I agree that they really should have extended this to an hour. They just cut 12 people this episode and we only got to see three or four of those that were cut. I didn't like the focus on three of the teams only, but perhaps that's because there wasn't much drama in the others. Standouts to me were Jessica, who did the bank vault scene, the team that did the laundromat story and of course Zach. I think what shocked everyone was what he was able to do within a few hours. I loved everyone's reaction the moment time stopped. A few gasps and then complete silence until the end of the short. Fantastic work. It moved all three of the directors to the next stage. Of course, we'll have to see how Zach does working as a director at the next stage. Kenny was an ass. I really think that Hannah and Jessica saved the film in editing. If he can't ensure useable footage, he's not going to make it. Vision isn't enough. If he wants to work, he needs discipline as well. I loved the little smirk Marty gave when they cut Jeff. His and Trevor's scenes looked the best in their short. Jeff's looked ordinary. I really wish we could have seen more of the films they did. I'm sure there were some that didn't work at all. I love how they're thrown from one task to the next without any time to rest. The last task is the biggest challenge. Half hour to plan and one hour to shoot is a test for them to see who can work under pressure and deadlines. After all, the finalists are going to have to produce a film every week and they need to make sure they're able to do it. |

Variety does not like the show's chances for completing the season as is, on FOX:
www.variety.com/review/VE...id=32&cs=1 Quote: It's possible that if ratings don't stabilize or improve, the show may end up online, or on FOX Reailty. |

That IS Carrie Fisher!?!?!!!! We were commenting on how that chick sorta "looks like Carrie Fisher." WOW. No more Star Wars bikini for you!
Watched this last night and I guess it's okay. I guess it wasn't really on my list of things to see because of the overabundance of egos in dreamland. Agree that the best part of the show were the dropped jaws and snarky faces when viewing Zach's special effects. |

The team movies are up
Also this was posted on the message board, it's basically a compilation of all the short films if you want to go watch anybodys THE_LIST_More_Finalists_Found I have a watched a handful of them, will watch some more later. I highly reccomend Randy Slavin's. I watched his team piece and his original short film and loved them both. I'm guessing they probably cut him cause he was way too dark for the competition though. Also special effects kid Zach, or boy wonder as I now call him has a pretty amazing movie too. The great thing about it is that it shows he isn't all about the special effects. I have no doubt he is gonna go to the end, he has a ton of talent. |

I would rather this was on IFC or Sundance, where they would gear it more towards the work and not the wierdo personalities.
