Caught the first episode.
Whoever called it, props to you. Shauvon is the psycho bitch of the season. Cohuttle also seems a little unhinged. Kelly-Anne might be the "promiscuous girl" they cast every year. And Parisa looks to be the most hated by the others. Isaac seems like the most normal one. |

So a friend of mine is from Natchez, MS and I asked her about Dunbar. Well, my friend is a little older so she e-mailed her sister who still lives in Natchez (around Dunbar's age) and got this response:

No blacks? No foreigners? And what's with so many of them being so uggo? I would be agitated if I didn't stop watching the Real World...I don't even know how long ago. I did think Dunbar (is this the name of a Canadian chocolate bar??) was the token gay though. |

If you have OnDemand cable from comcast, they have episode one up.
It was...the real world. I was bored. Not much else to do. Shauvon seemed non-psycho. Totally lucid, actually. Kelly Ann & Trisha are nightmares. Parisa is too uptight for this kind of situation. Cohutta is...wow - a real hick. Isaac tries too hard to be interesting. And the last guy isn't nearly as cute as he thinks he is. |

Hey I didn't want to start a new thread so I'll post this info in here. Pretty interesting stuff. From the rw/rr blog:
Alton will face Evan, Kenny will face Tyrie, Beth S. will face Tonya; Wes and Johanna will host In two months, former Real World and Road Rules alumni will battle it out in three boxing matches to find out who's the real competitor amongst the group. Alton (Las Vegas) has agreed to face off against Evan (Fresh Meat). Kenny (Fresh Meat) has agreed to face off against Tyrie (Denver). And finally, with what should be called the title match as these two have had some bickering in the past, Beth S. (Los Angeles) will face off against Tonya (Chicago). The three pairs will train for the next two months in order to square off against each other in a "professional boxing match" which will allow each winner to retire as an "undefeated professional boxer". No details are given about the organization is running the event, but all proceeds will go to charity. The event is scheduled for October 20, 2007 at the Celebrity Theater in Pheonix, AZ. linky |

How fondly I remember the early seasons where there was actually an effort to cast young people who had ambitions for things other than drinking and fucking.

Didn't MTV make some big PR blitz around the time of the recent casting that they were specifically looking for young people with "goals and ambition"?
Of course, in MTVspeak that probably means young people whose goals and ambitions involve nonstop alcohol-induced hook-ups with the occasional assault thrown in for good measure. I tuned out early on during the Denver season. I suspect I'll regret checking out the latest installment of this travesty. |

I think it was good til B2NY, which is around the time Survivor was big. Remember the 20 person media whore event to cast people for The Quest and B2NY? It all went downhill from there.
I remember Julie talking about being Mormon, and Kaia talking about her dad and going to some AIDs thing. And then there was Irene's weird illness and Janet's friend's suicide. And all we have now is drunken whores. But I think the show reflects our society. This is the Paris Hilton/Laguna Beach era, likewise RW sucks. |
