I noticed that this year they've lifted the "5-time" rule so you can keep coming back as long as you keep winning. The guy on today was a 5-day champion going on his sixth day.

Do they still get a car if they go for 5 days?

Quote: i don't think so. anyway, if someone goes five-plus days they usually get over $100,000. they can buy their own car. |

Speaking of Jeopardy, that Chris Miller (the current champion) rubs me the wrong way. I want him to finally lose!

Any brainiac who chooses to go for a sixth, seventh, eighth win, who then winds up losing, should lose all their winnings. Then they should be taken out and shot.

Since they doubled the money in Jeopardy and Double Jeopardy, a typical win is over $20,000. That makes me want to start reading encyclopedias and practice my signaling button skills.

I will take anyone on. 5-1 odds. I'll even give you the first 10 questions. I dare you.

Jeopardy has gotten so dumbed-down in the last few years, you don't have to be a genius to win anymore. Even if you don't know the exact answer, there is always a dead-giveaway clue within the question.

The answers are often the easy part. But signaling in at just the right time can be tough. Trust me on this.

Re: re: | ||

A friend tried out for Jeopardy! and said that the test to apply is actually far more difficult than any questions they ask on the show. Apparently they want to ensure intelligent people make it on the show, but dumb it down on TV so people playing along at home don't feel intimidated.

The test is definitely much much harder. About the same level as "Win Ben Stein's Money hard". (Where the really smart people go) Just imho.

Quote: Do tell. You were on the show, right? How does the signalling work? Why does it always seem like there is one person frantically pressing the button on every answer and never "lighting up"? Can you press it any time during when the "answer" is being read or do you have to wait for the split second Alex is done reading? Inquiring minds... |

Re: re: | ||

I think they have to wait until the answer is complete. Otherwise, faster readers would have an unfair advantage and Alex would never get to finish reading the answer.
Did anyone watch the week with the Washington bigwigs? Who did better? Conservatives or Liberals? |

Re: re: | ||

I think after Alex finishes the question, a light comes on on the contestant's podiums, signalling that they can now buzz in. If they buzz in before the light comes on, they are blocked out of buzzing in for the rest of the question. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Washington big wigs show hasn't aired yet. Probably during May sweeps.

Is Jeopardy really easier than in years past? I'd like to think i'm answering more questions correctly because i'm older and wiser. I must admit i never have thought that maybe the its the questions and not me.
This troubles me. |
