Yeah, I don't know if it was the flu or what. I had a runny nose, sneezing, coughing, terrible sore throat, and the intense heat and sleep deprivation only worsened it all. I was looking for any excuse to quit, primarily because of my illness. And the medicine they gave me was terrible and didn't help at all!

Hi Everyone! First and foremost I hope you are all doing well. One of my close friends, Jennifer Maldonado Tooley, was diagnosed with Crohn's disease a few years ago. There are over a million Americans living with Crohn's disease and there is currently no cure for it. The Crohn's and Colitis Foundation of America (CCFA) is on a mission to cure and prevent Crohn's disease. CCFA is an organization with an impressive track record of: -Funding cutting-edge studies at major medical institutions -Nurturing investigators at the early stages if their careers -Financing underdeveloped areas of research -Educating and publishing materials that enable medical professionals to stay current with the ever-developing landscape Jennifer told me about a program to help raise money to find a cure for this disease, and I immediately volunteered to participate in such a worthy cause. Thus, I am reaching out to all of my dear friends and family to inform you of my recent endeavor. A couple weeks ago I signed up to run a half marathon (13.1 miles) for the Crohn's and Colitis Foundation of America (CCFA). Through CCFA's Team Challenge, a fundraising and endurance training program, they will train me to run a half marathon while I help the Foundation raise funds to find a cure for ulcerative colitis and Crohn's disease. I want to raise $5,500 for CCFA. Please support me and CCFA by giving generously! I know it's a tough time right now for everyone with the harsh economy and lay-offs, etc., but this is for a wonderful cause and you're helping over a million Crohn's and Colitis victims, like my friend Jennifer, to find a cure for both diseases. A minimum of 80 cents per dollar donated to CCFA goes directly to research and patient support (which is significantly more than other organizations), and your contribution is tax deductible (Below is all the donating information). Another incentive--if you or your company chooses to donate $1,000, your company's name and logo will be screened onto our Team Challenge jerseys which we wear on race day, and there are thousands of contestants running so your company will be seen by several people! Also graciously accepted are your good wishes and positive energy as I attempt to train and successfully complete Team Challenge's 13.1 miles in July 2009. I am fully committed to crossing the finish line and at the same time ushering a big chunk of money to CCFA.
