Gabrielle Anwar?
Where the hell's she been? I'll tune in just for her -- what's this show about? |

This is the description from the USA website:
WHAT IS BURN NOTICE? When spies get fired, they don't get a letter from human resources. They get BURNED... The action/spy genre gets a refreshing update with USA Network's newest original series, Burn Notice. Jeffrey Donovan stars as Michael Westen, an international spy who suddenly finds himself blacklisted. Dumped in his hometown of Miami without money or resources, Michael struggles to put his life back together and find out why he's been burned. In the meantime, he uses his unique skills and training to help people in need ... mostly people who can't get help from the police. Michael is joined by Fiona (Gabrielle Anwar) an ex-IRA operative, who also happens to be an ex-girlfriend; and Sam (Bruce Campbell), a washed-out military intelligence contact who's being used by the feds to keep tabs on Michael. He's also forced to confront the family he went halfway around the world to get away from - particularly his mother, Madeline (Sharon Gless) who couldn't be happier to have her son back in town. Created and written by Matt Nix, Burn Notice combines the best of the action/thriller elements with surprising humor and an iconic new breed of spy. The series' Commercial-Free Premiere is presented by DirecTV and airs Thursday, June 28 at 10/9C. New episodes will air throughout the summer on Thursdays at 10/9C. |

I'm definitely going to check this out. Even though I'm not exactly a fan of the genre, the promos have made it look very promising.

I haven't recovered from Jeffery Donovan's show Touching Evil being cancelled after a few episodes so, don't know if I want to go thru that again

Howdy again, Piranhahaha...the other Burn Notice thread might have vanished so I'm ok with this one if you are. I'd watch this just for Bruce but I can't believe how smokin' hot Gabrielle Anwar was during the Al Pacino appreciation show.
Hail to the king, baby. |

This got a decent review in Variety... and how can I not watch something with Bruce Campbell in it?

There was a lot of cliched plot things in it, some elements from the old Equalizer series in it but it was enjoyable.

I enjoyed it, but sometimes, the main character creeped me out. I think it's just the way the actor looks. I don't find him attractive at all. And, my gaydar was pinging all over the place, NTTAWT.
Seeing Sharon Gless, however, was a welcome surprise. |

I thought it was terrific.
It's got sort of a real-life Alias vibe to my mind. The guy might be a tetch too slick, the freeze-frames are annoying, and damn the thing went on forever, but I was impressed. I love how they cooked up a plausible reason to spend the season bopping around South Beach. Good pilot; let's see how it fares down the stretch. |

I thought it was pretty good, although we need more Bruce! The show reminded me a lot of Magnum PI.

This was great- it had a lot more character than I thought it would.
Bruce Campbell is such a cheesy chubby bastard. I didn't know it was possible for a human being's head to get so large without some form of gigantism or Down's. |

Not bad. I recorded the pilot overnight. The lead actor has been in something else and I remember disliking him. Now, he cocky attitude sorta seems to work for his character. I love that they threw in the manipulative mom. She's a great actress!
Also, I was recently in Miami, so it's sorta fun watching it just 'cause of that. It's definitely getting a "season pass" on my TiVo. USA seems to be rolling out a slew of new series this summer. Kinda wierd that their shows are more watchable than most of what's on the networks these days. |

I also got a season pass for this. It seems a little hokey, but hey, what else do we have to watch right now anyway?

I hate the voice-overs. They're a total Veronica Mars ripoff without the brilliant wit (thought I did like the duct tape makes you smart line - is this written by a Canadian?). Other than that, I quite enjoyed the pilot.

Quote: Yeah, 'cause you know, voice-overs were never used on, say, Magnum, PI. |

I enjoyed this cheesy semi-McGuyver show. Besides...
BRUCE CAMPBELL IS AN ACTING GOD! |

I didn't expect much....but it's kinda Macgyver meets 007.
I actually really liked it. The lead surprised me. I usually don't like him.......but, dang! he's nailed this one! |
