Usually, when a performer dies, they'll do a quick insert after the final scene - often a photo of the deceased and a brief message of tribute - on the first or second day following the death. That's why I was tuning in today.
Given Eileen Herlie's long-term involvement with the show, it would be appropriate for them pull out all the stops and bring back old favorites for the memorial service (as they did when Phoebe/Ruth Warrick died). I could see them building a February sweeps event around it.
