Well... the residents of Pine Valley are the most stupid fucks on the planet.

Wait... let's revise that - the writers of AMC are the most stupid fucks on the planet. Could none of them have talked to somebody familiar with tornadoes before they wrote these episodes?

1. Tornado watches mean conditions are favorable for tornadoes. But everybody still goes about their business, keeping an eye on the skies or an ear on the radio/TV. When Jesse announced there was a tornado watch, people reacted as though somebody had dropped a bomb, complete with laughably melodramatic music.
   
2. Tornadoes are rarely preceded by violent thunderstorms unless they form from hurricane clouds. And who the fuck is stupid enough to argue outside during violent thunderstorms?
3. Anybody with an ounce of common sense (or who's watched The Wizard of Oz) knows you don't stand near windows or doors during a tornado.
4. WTF was Jesse moving a video game in front of the door? A tornado is not the big, bad wolf. If the roof was blown in and the walls stayed up, the primary escape route would have been blocked. FAIL!
5. A tornado warning is not the time for a wedding, unless you're in a cellar. You should be huddled together under a heavy blanket or a table to protect yourselves against a collapse and flying debris.
   

I know it's only a soap, but dramatic license doesn't have to equal stupidity. And there was so much stupidity. For example, Petey was off with Colby while his mama was in a hospital in a tornado fighting a heart attack. I guess he doesn't care about saying goodbye if she dies. Apparently Emma, the babysitter, and one usher were the only people in the Pine Valley Cinemas (all the casting budget must have been spent on the effects), but it's really bad customer service to not offer to call the police when one of your customers tells you her child has been kidnapped. Amber alert, anyone? And Ryan, when entire buildings are being lifted in the air and tossed around, do you think it's a good idea to start a fire in a huge iron stove?

And where the fuck did the Pine Valley seashore come from? Last time I checked, Pennsylvania's beachfront property consisted of New Jersey and Delaware.

Gaaah. I so wanted to enjoy it. Zach vs. the tornado was the cheesiest moment of high camp + great production values. If only there'd been more of that...
