Interesting note: on the opening credits, he sees his wives through curtains.
That is the mormon wedding ritual where the wife is on one side of a curtain, its kinda strange. My church is normal, the lead guy wears a dress and turns bread into flesh, then eats it. |

I watch the show again. The son doesn't have blond hair, but he has shorter hair than his friend. I'm sure the son is in the back seat. And I think the friend is the son of the other man with three wives that they had over for dinner.

I'm predicting Jeanne Tripplehorn will be the breakout star of the show...is she the most sympathetic one out of all the wives???

Yeah, Nikki and Margene are pretty bad. IMO, Margene especially. If you're going to have a "hot" 21 year old whiny, can't do anything, clingy wife she should at least be hotter than the two old models and not look a few donuts and IQ points away from being a Jerry Springer guest.
I think Nikki is fabulous but I love uber-bitches who are secretly so fragile inside the best. Jeanne's character is nice, though, but since she was strict LDS I can't see why she agreed to letting her husband keep dividing their income with younger and younger wives. |

Quote: I'm guessing they will incorporate some flashback sequences that will get into how Nikki got into the picture. Weren't Bill and Jeanne married for a while before he married Nikki? I'm interested in how that all happened I also think it would be fantastic if they had a storyline eventually about him romancing and taking ANOTHER wife |

Re: Big Love on HBO | ||

did anyone else find it odd, that the Bill Paxton character got out of bed the next morning and without taking a shower he just put on deodorant to get ready for work. After a night of having sex, he is going to smell like sex. I once made the mistake of not taking a shower after sex, and a friend at work could actually smell the sex. We still joke about it, but now, I always shower before work.

That bothered me too - and then she called him back for a little more oral. I just told myself he got up, took a shower, than got back in bed, got up again and put on deodorant.
I think the son was in the front seat too. The friend is the son of the other polygamist and his oldest wife, who was the mom on Homefront. I do think they have a crush going on. I think Margene is really cute and she is whiney, but why would any girl want to be the 3rd in line wife of someone. I like Jeanne Triplehorn - that Nikki is cweepy. The security guy didn't know he was a polygamist, but at his ribbon cutting the week before, Nikki and Margene and their kids were in the front row. Surely the public knows about his wives if he is a well known business owner? And I'm confused about the difference between Morman and LDS. I'll have to look into that. |

Quote: Yeah, Jeanne only allowed Bill to marry another woman after she had a hysterectomy. I, too, think that Bill Paxton's son was the one in the front seat. It would fit with Jeanne worrying about her son dating a slutty older woman. |

Re: Designer Rachael was on ANTM
Quote: Yeah, I heard that from the first episode. That is pretty fucked up though. She's recovering from a hysterectomy and he's off trolling for a new wife? I hope they show the flashbacks, because they've got to be GOOD And I can just imagine how Nikki reacted when he wanted to marry Margene |

I saw it last night for the first time. Kinda boring, going for the obvious with the sexual focus, really don't like Bill Paxton, and why the hell isn't there a fence around the pool?

Re: Designer Rachael was on ANTM
Quote: raa!!!!!!!!!!! It's sad, I spend half the episode thinking the same thing! Something is off-putting about Jeanne Tripplehorn playing the head frau. She's usually so sexually motivated in all of her roles. She's still my fave-o, but that really isn't saying much in this group. And for those who may be familiar, are the marriages after the first legal? I know that at the end of the first episode, they had some statistics, but it didn't say anything about that. |

Bill Paxton's son was definitely in the front seat. I'm thinking maybe he's just a hornball and anything looks good to him, male friend, female friend, "stepmother."

Quote: From all the pre-air promos for the series it sounds like Bill & Bar start meeting each other on the sly...sorta like wife #1 is his real soul mate and they can't get enough of each other. IMO, Margene looks like a young Bar or like she could be the daughter of Bill & Bar. I suspect her resemblance to the younger version wife #1 may be an issue at some point. I've never been a big Jeanne Tripplehorn fan - thought she was totally miscast as Tom Cruise's wife in The Firm - but I'm totally loving her as Bar. Re: the fence around the pool. Sometimes it appears there is some sort of barrier around the pool, sometimes not. Maybe it's a portable thing. When I was 3 or 4, I fell into our swimming pool (it was winter too...water was COLD!) and could not swim. Thankfully my brother screamed for help instead of running away and hiding. I do remember that it seemed like the next day there was a chain link fence installed around the pool. I don't know why they just don't agree to have "Bill-time" run from noon to noon. Everyone would get over their hurt feelings that Bill's giving a little something-something to wife #X when it's technically the morning of wife #Z's night. Re: Margene

For me, the one continuous theme is deciding if the perk of being able to bang 3 different women all the time (whom are all okay with it) is worth enduring the constant whining and problems of 3 wives.
Also, did anyone notice the foot rubbing under the table during the card game??? To me, it looked like it was between 2 wives of the other polygamy family. That would make a much more interesting/disturbing storyline IMO -- if the wives were kind of into each other... Actually, scratch that -- it gives a much more disturbing feel when the wives act like everything is "pure and normal". |

A couple of comments:
Quote: Last week I came across a promo for the show, it had a clip of Boss Lady explaining the relationships to a new neighbor: her explanation - she and Bill are married, Nikki is their tenant, Margene is a poor unwed mother. The houses are connected through the combined back yards but appear as separate entities from the street. If that's the party line, Nikki and Margene being at the ribbon cutting could just be explained away as friends/neighbors being supportive. (This explanation works until one of the kidlets calls Bill "Dad") Also, re. the legality of the marriages: same show said that only the first marriage is considered legal in Utah. |
