I never really bit on PB and I thought Samantha Who foundered. Note I do not mention DWTS, either. And I generally like the fellow OSTS'ers who pimp
those shows.

I'm glad to see some of the old Barney last night. I was afraid we'd be getting "mooning over Robin" Barney all season.
Does anyone know a real-life couple like Marshall and Lily, 'cause I sure don't? It's not like they just started dating, they've been together for years. I call foul that they are still having sex that much and are so impatient to be together that they need a code word. Yeah, yeah, I know it's just a t.v. show but that is just plain annoying. |

I love the show but it's really contrived. So when a plot point like that comes up I just accept it and move on. "People don't act like
this!!" was a big complaint I had the first season but I've long learned to live with it.

I really love this show but think Big Bang Theory is much funnier now.
Barney is still awesome. |

How does Neil Patrick Harris always get robbed at the Emmy's? He has a great comedy timing. |

He's the funniest guy on TV right now.
Who'd he lose to, anyhow? I've known couples that are all boinky-boinky well into their first years of marriage, but not ones that started from their freshman years in college. My view is that Lily and Marshall are extremely needy people who fortunately found each other. Remember the Godfather/Four Weddings and a Funeral "thunderbolt"? It does happen. And I do know Lotharios such as Barney to have been hit by it, too. Meanwhile, anyone care to weigh in on Ted's birthday party evil goat again? This has been bugging me all summer. |

I don't know why, but I cannot stand Stella. I like Sara Chalke on Scrubs, but for some reason, on HIMYM, she just doesn't work for me.
Does anyone else think they are setting it up where she and Ted will break up and she is NOT the mother? |

I don't see Stella being "the one" at all. |

Meanwhile, anyone care to weigh in on Ted's birthday party evil goat again?I haven't watched the episode recently, but this is the season that we finally find out what the goat was all about. Something happens this season where Robin has to move into Ted's apartment, because in season 3 Ted mentioned that it didn't happen until his 32nd birthday when Robin was living with him. What amazes me is that they have been playing around with the evil goat since the first season. I didn't realize it until this summer when I was watching the first season dvd. |

Sara can't be the wife, because somehow the yellow umbrella is the wife. I'd say Sara/Stella will be around for about half the season, if that and then she'll be gone - I mean, how can Ted marry someone who doesn't like "Star Wars"..... and they really need to test these actresses with Ted to see if they actually have chemistry - I don't by it would Stella, nor did I with Robin......Barney has better chemistry with women and Neil is gay..... |

Lifetime nabs 'Mother' cable rightsCable network outbids TBS, ABC Family, FXLifetime came out on top in a lively bidding war with TBS, ABC Family, FX and Comedy Central to nail down exclusive cable TV rights to the reruns of Twentieth TV's "How I Met Your Mother."The parties declined to discuss financial terms, but Lifetime forked over a strapping $82.5 million (or about $750,000 an episode multiplied by 110 half hours). That's the second biggest license fee ever ponied up by a cable network for a sitcom in the first cycle, beaten only by the $800,000 an episode shelled out by FX for Warner Bros. Domestic's "Two and a Half Men." Twentieth is also poised to add another $800,000 an episode or more in license fees from the simultaneous sale of "Mother" to TV stations in off-network syndication, which will share the runs with Lifetime. Having lost some total viewers (off 5%) and some people 18 to 49 (off 4%) in the primetime Nielsens for July and August, Lifetime is looking to refresh its rerun lineup, which includes "Reba," "Will & Grace" and "Frasier." "Mother" has become one of the bellwethers of CBS' Monday-night sitcom lineup, averaging 9 million viewers and adding 450,000 people 18 to 49 during the 2007-08 season. The $82.5 million license fee is one of the two revenue streams flowing into Twentieth's coffers. The second is the three 30-second spots that the distrib will hold back in each half-hour run on Lifetime, which could be worth another $200,000 or more for each episode over the four years, depending on the health of the advertising marketplace. The 12 weekly runs of "Mother" won't start until the fall of 2010, but Lifetime will be able to repurpose two plays a week of the series for about 20 months, starting early next year. Lifetime's four-year license term begins in September 2010 with 110 episodes. As CBS keeps renewing "Mother" beyond the show's first five seasons, Twentieth will add a year to Lifetime's contract, capping the deal at eight seasons. Any renewals past season eight will have to be renegotiated by Twentieth and Lifetime. Putting together the deal were JoAnn Alfano, executive VP for entertainment, for Lifetime Networks, and Bob Cook, president and chief operating officer of Twentieth TV. Lifetime scored exclusive cable rights to reruns of 'How I Met Your Mother.' |

Wasn't there something about Sarah having left the yellow umbrella at a club that Turd (It's TED) went back to?
But yeah I'm not buying that she's the mother for one bit. For those that have been following the evil goat subplot, would you mind establishing a narrative of its appearances, the confusion over its appearances, and ultimately, is the poor demonic thing going to show up again anytime soon? |

the goat is subterfuge, my bud.
(think about it. if you are going to present a "continuity" based sitcom, which this clearly was from the beginning, why not toss the goat in as a place marker in season one. it could result in anything. easy to connect it with anything later. ted and robin. why not? ted was with robin. ted loses robin. then robin is living with ted in s4? wtf?) the only purpose of the goat post season 3 is to get you to question why robin would be living in ted's apartment this season. the goat could have been the answer to why lilly left marshall if thomas and bays wanted to go that way. or why ted killed lilly in a fit of rage... you get my point. if you want to build a "continuity" sceneario you introduce random shit all over the place. you never have to resolve or explain it. it never has to go anywhere. its just there, "really fucking obvious" and available. you and i should write a sitcom. we could call it "osts mod." i'd bet your stories would trump anything currently on television...

Sarah's back on PB you know. Not that it isn't still silly as hell.
Barney is awesome, I wish it was just a show about him most of the time. |

In every season the goat (obviously) has been during Ted's birthday and they always show those eppy's in the spring. So I would look for it to come up
again around that time.
