I plan on picking up the DVD this weekend. I am also hoping that the season 2 DVD will be on sale since I haven't bought that one yet.

At my HMV it was much cheaper than S3 and oddly S1. I think only $20 (the others were in the mid-$30 range).

On the NYC/NJ debate, I love NYC and regard it as my personal playpen, but I can't last there for more than three days without getting antsy. I tthink one of the reasons I love this show is the kind of crap that happens to these people reminds me of my own adventures up there back in the day. Plus, I'd take the Morristown NJ area over 90% of anywhere in the US. East Rutherford not so much. |

I recently got DVD sets for BBT and for the first two seasons of HIMYM. I watched the BBT set first and I just saw the pilot of HIMYM. So the third season of HIMYM is available now ? |

Is there a free DVD-to-GIF converter out there? I'd be more than happy to make HIMYM avatars for people (or, sigh, even Big Bang Theory ones) if there is.
Or if someone may or may not want to send me a copy of whatever software they use, that may or may not be awesome.
(Watching the DVDs of season 3 has reminded me that of a great potential avatar for someone in the scene where Robin has a dream and comes oh so close to making out with herself) |

I'm playing with my adobe suite myself, but it isn't free. There are a bunch of decent free programs out there which some I still use, but I
haven't tried any yet that turn DVD to avi yet (I doubt you can go straight to gif.. the file would be just to big to work on, I would think).
http://www.videohelp.com/...ions/dvd-to-avi-divx-xvid lists a bunch of free programs to turn it to an avi (and usually has really good tutorials too). From there you would want to load the avi in a photoshop-like program (GIMP is a good free one, but you would need a plug-in for avi files, which you can find here: http://www.gimptalk.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=22) That is a seriously great avi! I figured you could, but what I didn't know is that one could make an animated desktop background image. Loved to figure out how and will happily use Robin as my guinea pig for you, but the OoJF card will most likely end up being permanently framed above my theoretical fireplace... unless, of course all this off-topic computer talk here constitutes as something that I would require an OoJF card. ;) So yeah.. if anyone has any requests, if I am around I'll happily make them (until I get bored, of course). |

Woohoo, after playing around with about 8 different programs I finally figured out how to make animated GIFs from movie files without spending a dime (the bill
to clean up my computer after going on and getting adware from dozens of "TOTALLY FREE OMG!!11!" download sites will probably even things out).
I'll be making more in the near future, but for those of you who want to join in on the Robin Scherbatsky avatar revolution, here you go:
