I love when they do those weird little references in the future flash-forwards. When I was watching the DVDs I caught a "NYC Lawyer Discovers Loch Ness
Monster" framed newspaper headline in future Marshall's office while he's reading Lily's goodbye letter ("BUSTED! I knew you'd read
this. You suck, Marshall, you totally suck!")

It took me a couple minutes to figure out it was Will Sasso - the toupee threw me off. First Sara Rue on BBT and then him on HIMYM...even though Less than Perfect was less than perfect I still loved the show and glad to see these folks still around......Speaking of which is Rules of Engagement coming back on, or has it been cancelled?? |

That ep was firing on ALL cylinders last night.
Horny Robin, the gang finishing off Marshall's "I was going to ...." lead (... to do the football captain because he gave you his promise ring and you looked so good in your open-backed dress), Barney's black 80's sitcom titles usage, the flashbacks with Doug interposed in critical plotpoints (btw, was he ever actually in any of them, or was that CGI across the board), and more. Excellent eppie. Speaking of CGI, that lightsabre looked really good. I wonder if they got ILM itself to do it. |

Having just watched the 1st 2 seasons in less than 2 weeks I can tell you those were all CG..
Watched the behind the scenes stuff from S2 and I LOVE the engagement story. In the ep where Robin finds the ring in the glass at their restaurant and assumes Ted's proposing which eventually leads to their break up on one take they arranged it so that the actor who claims the ring as his doesn't say anything and instead one of the extras claims it and proposes to his girlfriend who was doing the scene with him. They were friends of a friend of one of the writers and asked if they could get in as extras. The writer found out the guy was planning to propose on that trip and took it to the producers who asked him if he wanted to do on the set. Everyone (cast & crew) were excited and nervous for him. Adorable :) |

Loved this one, probably best of the season. Marshall's fights with his brothers were classic. "Did you guys really beat them up?" "No, Barney hit me and punched himself in the eye. Come on!" Speaking of CGI, that lightsabre looked really good. I wonder if they got ILM itself to do it. Actually, doing lightsabers is pretty easy, albeit tedious. Not a Mad TV fan at all so I didn't recognize him but Doug was great, I hope they bring him back. |
