I believe Nico's contributions to The Velvet Underground fit that description. I think she added something that was intangible yet vital to the essence of the band. Do you agree? Also, what other "musicians" might fit into this category?

I don't think she added anything creatively to the Velvet Underground (I may be wrong?), but her voice adds to that first album. Nico then went on to prove she had an amazing creative side with her solo albums. Velvet Underground went on without her with other amazing albums. EVERYONE WINS! ^_^ Except Andy Warhol. So much for his dreams. Fun fact: Lou Reed's Metal Machine Music was an early precursor to noise music of today!

They were the Coffin Cheaters and the Last Rites groups.. In the late 60's and early 70's Shit skins in town would riot everytime the ni66ers rioted in Chicago or Watts etc.. The local police would barracade themselves in the police station to protect it while the Skins rioted in town.. The Bikers would ride in , kick ass and restore order.. The next day the police would come out of hiding and arrest the bikers on Civil Rights violations.. Today I live in the Mid-West, Besides belonging to various Farm orginizations I belong to several Combat Sport Organizations . We patrol our communities like the old days except now instead of being arrested I get Community service Awards ..
