RealityBlurred is reporting that the third season of The Contender will be all heavyweights and probably air on HBO.

I wouldn't bother. Hell, most of the best heavyweights today are all fat and tired after 3 rounds. Imagine watching these so-called prospects.

April 10th, 9pm on ESPN for the Contender Challenge. Can't really find much on ESPN itself about the show, but here's the expected lineup: Quote: Glad they have Gomez, Brinkley and K9. Did I miss something or was Jerson Ravelo never on the Contender? Guess they couldn't get an 8th fighter from the show. |

It's in london, so it's actually on at 5pm EST. Replay tonight at 10pm.
Perfect timing, becuase I only buy HBO for the Sopranos, then shut it off once the season ends! Manfredo Sat Sopranos Sun |

What happened marco?
I was just in Paris, and I got home to the Contender promo on ESPN. I'm excited...anything Contender is good for me! |

It was a quick stoppage but in the end it really didn't matter, Calzaghe was just in a far better league than Manfredo.

I got all excited when I saw Contender was on ESPN, I thought the third season would be all stars vs uk people. But nope, just regular old boxing. At least theres hope it will come back, even if it is on HBO.
And why is Sergio not fighting big time fights yet? This makes me upset. |

Re: *sigh* | ||

I wish they'd done more of the bios than boxing, but it was still pretty cool. I thought it was hysterical how they kept bringing up that the UK guy (what was up with the Scream mask?) was so cocky and never mentioned how much of an arrogant dick Wright was.

So who won last night? I had other priorities to fulfill, and I didn't like Walter so I didn't feel like watching.

The UK guy--Anthony Smalls? Not sure about the last name.
Next week's Freddy Curiel, so I'd expect the UK to be up 2-0. |

Actually, from the looks of the fighters, I'll be likely skipping all the fights besides Alfonso's and maybe K9's. Not really a fan of the rest.
I still want to watch The Contender 3, though HBO would be a problem, especially if I'm in college when it airs. |

I've read a couple articles about Season 3. It sounds like it will be heavyweights for sure, it will probably be on HBO, casting is going on right now, and it will premiere in September.
Thank God it's coming back. |

Woot! That's great news. :)
It wasn't the same watching last night, but the music alone gets me in the mood. |

Yank Spanker Smalls was interesting, but the big surprise was Curiel pulling out a TKO. Gomez looked gooooood beating his guy. He really does seem to have a future. |

Gatti - Gomez | ||
|
July 14th
Arturo "Thunder" Gatti will fight Alfonso Gomez This is the last fight for Gatti. |

Re: Gatti/Gomez | ||
Quote: Boy did you ever peg that one. Alfonso beat him to death. It looked like Gatti's upper-lip was torn almost in half from that final flurry/knockdown from Gomez. I have to admit...even as shot as I thought Gatti was coming in, I still thought he had too much experience going deep into fights for Gomez. Especially given Alfonso's lack (or so I thought) of a big punch. Even though Gatti hasn't been the real Gatti for a long time, this still pushes Alfonso to the top of the list of Contender alumni. That's one high-profile win...and we all know that, in boxing, keeping a high profile is just as important as in-ring performance. |

Re: Gatti/Gomez | ||

This is excellent news. Here are a few more notes from other news reports, some of which bother me a little bit.
- It will only be 10 episodes compared to the 12 (including the finale) of season 2 - 6 fighters will be eliminated in the first episode - Tommy Gallagher and Jeremy Williams, the trainers from the first two seasons are gone and replaced by apparently better and more experienced trainers - 4th season is being discussed for heavyweights |
